Slumfood Millionaire, BKK..

Featured Replies

Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed it. I have moved back to the USA but I used to shop there all the time and knew many of the vendors. One woman would save me the beef tenderloin, which is not easy to buy or find there. I leaned to make a nice tender Thai beef steak from them at a fourth of the price of beef at Villa.

Poverty porn, don't get the rich westerners fascination with slum street food. Mostly cooked in old palm oil among roaches, rats and filth, lovely ????

Thanks for the link, I enjoyed it too.

And typically there had to be one poster to immediately criticise: "rats, filth, palm oil" etc.  Pretty sad.

thanks moontang, enjoyed the video cheers

Thanks Moontang, great video and I’ve eaten street food around there, lovely.

Clearly the negative comment was from an expert in Asian Street food ????

Totally agree. I lived in Thailand for years and ate street food maybe 3 or 4 times. Loaded with salt, sugar, chemicals, pollution and flies. Every time, it left me feeling like I got high blood pressure and heart palpitations. Totally over-rated. Give me an air-conditioned restaurant any day.

Was that poster incorrect?

Unless you are thinking the suki/BBQ places that you do the cooking they can be where the danger is greater - unless a very active establishment with many customers the low food turnover invites issues and under-cooking is often the norm.

Some of the street places that "sell out" everyday, can be a lot safer than migrant workers in a corporate hotel.  AC or not.

Has Thainess self deported?  I noticed the past tense.
