Can thais come to the U.K. now

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Can thais come to the U.K. at the moment on a holiday visa?

Ive spoke to a visa agent who says they can since June 20. However I am aware he may just be after my money.

Will the U.K. really be letting in thais considering the difficulty they will have getting back? If the Thai, was then to overstay due to waiting for a repatriation flight would they  be punished for this ?

Many thanks...

IATA website only talks about a 14 day self isolation after arriving. No other restrictions. So yes it might be possible. Also depends if VSF global is full operating again.  I think the real tricky part is when your Thai GF plans to return. The Thai embassy in the UK won't be happy. Right now they are still flying back Thai people that stranded due to the previous lockdown. Also once she returns another 14 days of isolation in a state area after arriving back in Bangkok at her own costs.

There are no restrictions on properly documented Thai people traveling to the UK, as previously mentioned all arrivals from Thailand must self isolate on arrival for fourteen days.

A number of Thai people have travelled to the UK of late, so the advice from the agent is correct.

Is it essential for your girlfriend to travel at this time, does she have a visa?

She has no visa at the moment , that’s what the agent says he can help with.

It’s essential in the sense that we are in love and have been apart four months already and the chances of me getting into Thailand within the next year are looking very , very slim.

I know many people have more valid reasons than that but I can’t help that...

Whilst some applicants find using an agent comforting, for a genuine applicant who fully meets the criteria an agent isn’t really necessary.

Does she intend using an agent in the UK or Thailand, if using one here in Thailand, I strongly advise that she She uses an an agent she uses one who is registered with the OISC, unlike in the UK registration isn’t a legal requirement in Thailand, but it demonstrates that they have the necessary competences to offer advice.

Thanks for the advice ! It’s been a stressful few months and I am concerned that her application could have some flaws in it so il use an agent to make it as smooth as possible.

Was going to use Siam Legal. I’ll have a look now and try and work out if they are OISC qualified. It doesn’t immediately say so on their site.

Thanks again it’s much appreciated!

Agents cannot make flaws go away. Either your wife qualifies for a visa or she doesn't. Make sure you prove relationship, finances and a reason for her to return to Thailand. If you have all of those you should be OK.

The process is simple. My wife has successfully applied for 2 visitor visas. Application for settlement currently under review.

I have for a number of years arranged my thai wife's UK and Schengen visa with no help from agents, the online application is simple and the requirements are straight forward, i am speaking about pre Cv19 applications, not using an agent of course leaves a few more coins in your pocket, when you/wifey go to VFS for your interview they are friendly and whilst you cant change the details on your application form which you have already submitted and they have the application in front of them they will give advice on errors that may effect the application, but follow the online application prepare all the requested forms attend the interview on time, home and dry.

disclaimer.

this must not be taken as a 100% quarentee, or i would be an agent 555

That depends on how long she is staying in the UK. When the emergency decree is lifted, 'maybe' Thai authorities are ok with self isolation at home.

I have used Siam Legal, successfully. they were very good, very professional. and honest. Call them. after Siam Legal  we did it ourselves. Not difficult. just getting the right paperwork together. Good luck,

I truly hope so but nobody can tell right now how the Thai government will decide in the near future. I am facing a similar dilemma . My Thai GF can fly to the the Netherlands. She still has a valid Schengen visa. I know from other people that once you're on the plane and have all the papers needed the Dutch immigration will allow a Thai to enter. But every Thai in the Netherlands have to contact thei Embassy for a return flight. Which means the original ticket to return cannot be used instead. So half of the ticket is a loss. Also if economy class is full it will be business ( very expensive). Also the Embassy will decide the date and the flight itself. After arriving it means 14 days in isolation. I think right now for Thai people travelling to the UK on a short visa will face similar regulations. IMO it's not the visa but the trip back to Thailand

I believe it is £708 from the UK to Thailand one way on the special flights.  There are stories of 3000 Thai's waiting to return and only 3 flights scheduled from the UK in August, which makes it a very tricky process.  3000 appears to be unverified so take that for what it is worth.
