Ok, but in case of an expired ED Visa, like he said, it's unlikely that his permission of stay is still valid. In case of an ED Visa you have to get a new Visa every year you can't extend your permission of stay and after 12 Month it's time to get a new Visa. You have to leave the country.

It is still valid due to the ministerial notice issued on April 7th that has been extended to September 26th.

If the border crossings are not open then and flights are still not possible to a location where you can apply the visa then it may be extended again,

You also have the option to apply for a 30 day extension with a letter from your embassy if it is not extended.

I did my 90 day check in today..   5 mins and done..  I don't want to go over 3 months without a new date...   It's not a big job... Just go and do it.

  • Source for this picture? It's more confusing than their usual info graphics. I think it also contains wrong information.

So having been here for 6 months as a tourist already they will have no sympathy.

Some other guy said that cashing in on my unused 30-day extension should not be a problem.

I hope he's right and you're wrong.

But, in case he's wrong and you're right .....do you or anyone else know which is the cheapest ED visa school in BKK?

Immigration has stated no ED visa before the amnesty is over. Like I said there are no options, you will be leaving by September 26th unless you want to go into overstay

case reports from forum members contacting schools in bangkok:

"Unfortunately, we have been informed by immigration that we are unable to process any more education visas before the amnesty expires. This means we are very sorry but it won't be possible for you to get an education visa. If the situation changes, we will get back to you. If anything changes with immigration, I will let you know. I hope you get something sorted"

This was because such a conversion requires 15 days (or in some provinces 23 days) of remaining permission to stay to be processed.

So people who inquired about this after 15th July were given this information (which was correct at the time), because there were less than 15 days remaining until the supposed end of the amnesty at 31st July.

Now with the extension it will again be possible to get an ED visa (until about the 11th September, 15 days before the amnesty ends)
