The chief of the Khao Laem Ya - Koh Samet National Park Prayoon Phong Phan issued a warning to tourists throughout Rayong and in Koh Samet in particular as the monsoon season played havoc with the province's beaches and seas.

He urged tourists to monitor weather forecasts and follow the instructions of officials to the letter for their own safety.

High seas were battering the Rayong mainland coast yesterday and Koh Samet off Ban Phe was particularly affected.

Thai Rath reported that red flags forbidding entry into the sea were later flying in Koh Samet and small vessels were forbidden from leaving Ban Phe port.

"He urged tourists to monitor weather forecasts and follow the instructions of officials to the letter for their own safety."

Maybe he should share these concerns with boat operators too? Just a suggestion....

Tourists warned: High seas and small vessels present danger - and you are telling tourist this, why ????

As another said here, tell the F#@%&ng boat and ferry owners that. ????

Is this so you can say, "I told them" if another boat sinks? Thus passing the blame onto the tourists. After all, they were told that high seas and small vessels are dangerous!  ????

We're all tourists (foreigners) here in Thailand. Nothing wrong with warning folks to use extra caution near the beach.
