Yes, they appear to suffer less severe health impacts than older adults. But once infected, they are very capable of spreading the virus to others -- teachers, school staff, siblings, parents, grandparents, etc etc...  That's part of the reason they need to be protected from the virus, not just for their health, but for the health of all those around them.

In his role as President, trump is expected to be the best communicator to the American people. trump has totally failed in his function as a trust worthy communicator, with over 20,000 false and misleading statement in the public domain since becoming President. To be frank, IMO, it is long overdue for trump to be subjected to removal of misleading content in the social media. 

 

There is no such thing as 'almost immune', it's a nonsensical comment, there again trump has demonstrated he is not particularly articulate, Being the leader of the USA would be a good idea for trump to clarify what he actually was trying to communicate - there again, due to his track record, likely too late to regain trust from the majority of voters.

 

So far as I know it hasn't been documented how many people have been infected by children but one would guess it is not an insignificant number.

 

Aside from those children who have died from Covid in the US, It's a relatively small number, obviously not considered to be so by the parents, of children who have suffered serious medical consequences from Covid; from a mid-July update:

In virtually all countries it is accepted that children are far less vulnerable to covid19 than adults. The post was true. In Thailand next month all schools are expected to be opened. Children are desperately needing to see their friends and continue their education. The radical left and Trump haters are not wanting schools to remain open for their own political benefit.

'Seattle- Bellevue- Edmonds and probably Tacoma, remote learning.  Unless their cases in their county were a certain percentage lower they could reopen.  Sequim for example had 4 cases earlier and no deaths, so they may have classes.'

"Tend to suffer less" i.e. are less likely to die from the disease (though some childten have died) is not at all the same as "immune".

 

Immune = cannot be infected period (and thus also cannot spread the infection to others).

 

Absolutely untrue that children are "immune". 

 

The main reason for concern about children's exposure to the virus is that even though most children (not all) will have asymptomatic infection, they can spread the virus to others in their family and community.
