Nobody, not even the President, has a right to freedom of speech when communicating via a privately owned media platform.

 

Trump has not been deprived of any freedom of speech.

Hitler and his Nazi party produced movies equating Jews to disease infested rodents.  It prepared the ground for the round-up of Jews for the Holocaust.  I'm sure the people who made the movies were "just doing their job".

 

Sometimes people are put in a "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.  It appears Zuckerberg has (reluctantly) decided to be on the right side of history.  Spreading lies that kill people is wrong, even if you are just delivering the message.

So you believe that social media platforms are the correct way for the POTUS to issue official communiques?

When using social media Trump is, or should be, treated as a private citizen and subject to the same rules as every other user. That means following the rules of that media.

I agreed to the TVF rules when I joined; if I break those rules I cannot complain if posts are deleted. Trump agreed to Facebook rules when he joined; if he breaks those rules, ditto.

I have no great love for Trump but what he has said here is true.  Beyond  a very low infection rate the death rate is vanishingly small amongst kids.  This is the problem with having social media outlets censor themselves. They don’t have the facts and they do have a political agenda.

Hall of shame stuff. President of a developed country and the land of the free had his post removed over false claim. That stench distinction must certainly go down as the only head of states of any developed country to have their post removed over violation by Facebook & Twitter or any other social media platform. The unfortunate part is, too many people, including Americans, rely on social media like Facebook and Twitter for their NEWS.... That's never what those platforms were designed to be for primarily. But that's what they've become in the modern era...

 

And while serving good purpose sometimes, they also have become platforms for the wide dissemination under the guide of "news" of blatant lies, propaganda, foreign meddling, hate and discrimination. They have an obligation to society to at least try to clean up their act.

So 99% is certainly closer than any lower percentage that you care to produce.
