How do you think this change came about? Perhaps publicity such as below, along with the group of Expats who met with officials after signing arranging to have a petition signed in protest of the TM30. https://www.richardbarrow.com/2019/08/everything-i-know-about-the-tm30-form-after-attending-chamber-of-commerce-meetings-and-speaking-at-the-fcct/ Improvement is never going to happen if its not attempted. You really hate the Thai govt dont you? So the ending of TM30 was all because of Richard? I have a hard time believing that. The TM30 was an old law that was being enforced in full force again, but this is a typical Thai thing. Crack down on some old rule then realize too much work and stop. Same when they started the 6 month rule (around 2003-4ish) that you couldn't stay in Thailand more than 6 months of the year if on tourist visas or visa exempt. Caused allot of work, IOs trying to count days in passports etc. so they scrapped that. Maybe Richard helped with that too? 1

Seems like a useful site but I did notice he says “My work permit as web designer has already been renewed” But he says that his actual work is at the school? If he’s working at the school he has a contract of employment with the school which allows the work permit and no reason not to have his extension. Sorry something isn’t quite right and as he has been here for as long as me he should know what’s what. Somethings not being said (and forget the conspiracy theories) I agree. I too am unclear what his permitted employment is. Is he a web designer? Is he a teacher? Is he a compensated travel writer? A journalist? He says immigration officers spent three hours at his “workplace”, although never specifies what that workplace is. I doubt immigration spent three hours at his workplace chatting over tea. They don’t spend three hours investigating onsite if they are trying to invent reasons to deny an extension. I am not sure we should immediately jump to his defense because "bad immigration guys" with sketchy details like this. It is entirely possible that there was evidence or information that he ran afoul of regulations in one or more ways and immigration are doing their job by investigating. Or the price went up and Mr Barrow wasn't prepared (or couldnt) stump up with a wheel-barrow full of Baht. Anyway, if he is making as much money as what people are claiming here, why not just get an Elite visa??

Its well known that if you are missing 1 otherwise crucial document, there is a very easy way of making that 1 crucial problem suddenly dissapear. Im guessing you probably had all your visa documents in order so no problem.. This guy is high profile and maybe theres a thing or 2 that might need to be overlooked in his case, and for him the price is a bit higher. I find it ironic that he's against corruption, dual pricing etc, but then uses "his friends" to help with his visa! Richard's a sold guy, respectable, respectful, speaks good Thai and is very well liked by Thais who know him. Richard has promoted tourism in Thailand and highlighted the parts of Thailand that the Thais like to see highlighted. When he has referenced some of the downsides he has done it in a reasonable and respectful way. Richard has never promoted the seedy side if Thailand and eschews it. He doesn't promote any of the illegal activities that so many bloggers and vloggers do. He's a prolific blogger and his info is usually reliable, his analysis usually on the money. His posts have helped a lot of people over a very long period of time. If you don't know him it doesn't mean he hasn't been hugely helpful to many. I find it disturbing and distasteful that there are so many nasty comments about someone who has done so much for so many and been so positive about Thailand for so long. 4
