They said that they didn't want to go back to their hometowns because they didn't want to be a burden on their families.

I made mention in a previous report that the solution was to pay for their bus fares back to their province.

So it seems they just want to be a burden on Pattaya.

I have not talked to any of them, therefore, I am unable to know if they want to be a burden on Pattaya. Seemingly.

Thailand , where no good deed goes unpublicized...Lights ,cameras, action.....

It's like the photo-cops; every time a crime is (accidentally?) solved they emerge in droves grinning proudly into the camera.

while it is a commendable act, it is hardly a long time solution to the plight of those homeless folks, but what do you do when the government is bent on buying submarines by the dozen while neglecting their citizens in need, priority is the name of the game here...

the shut down is more costly and deprived these very people of their livelihood

It's non skilled labour and people can be trained for these jobs. They need a future, though it might be a long way.

No. They don't want to be a burden on their families who in all probability are already supporting other members of their family with what little they have.

I don't think they want to be a burden on anyone!

Wait til you lose your livelihood....

I get that, but during such tough times, wouldn't you want to be with family?  Otherwise, what is the point of family?

Could it be many of these people are estranged from their family, perhaps by their own fault?

the people going to pattaya are often the children,

the way pension system works here is that the children sends 3000 baht a month to the parents.

now that they lost the job due to government shut down,

they cant send money back and are ashamed of it,

and dont want to go back for that reason alone,

and then on top of that they dont want to double down by

becoming a burden (another non productive mouth to feed)

I know the way the system works here.  Just another example of Money Number One.

I feel for these homeless.
To some it's what they want, not for me.

Very immature and unprofessional for you to attack a fellow TVM by making reference losing my livelihood.
Disappointed with your childish comment.
