Thai Rookie In 4 Way Lead Beijing Open

Featured Replies

Thai rookie Panuwat Muenlek is on the prowl for a maiden triumph on the Asian Tour, in a four-way tie for the lead going into Sunday's final round of the Beijing Open.

Despite being surrounded by seasoned players, Panuwat remained calm and collected on the third day firing a three-under-par 69 at the Pine Valley Golf Resort and Country Club. With a three-day total of 11-under-par 205, Panuwat was tied alongside in-form Australian Adam Blyth who fired a 67, India’s Gaurav Ghei who delivered a steady 68 and Aussie Scott Strange who enjoyed a hole-in-one at the par three 12th hole before closing in with a 68.

Seems the state of golf in Thailand isn't doing too badly as Thaworn Wiratchant is in 6th place ahead of John Daly at 10th.

Unfortunately he didn't do quite so well in the final round but he is tipped for a big future. Thailand has got some promising talent coming through the ranks with Chapchai Nirat, Prom Meesawat and Chinarat all under the age of 23
