GARDAÍ are hunting for an Irishman wanted in Thailand for the murder of a sex worker.

The PSNI has asked detectives here to help find Neil Henry Elliott (48), from Fermanagh, who is believed to be in Co Cavan and is suspected of planning to flee the country from Dublin Airport.

Thai authorities want to rearrest him for the murder of a prostitute in Pattaya last April 29.

He has links to Louth, Monaghan and Cavan.

Thai police said the murdered sex worker, named Onn, had been picked up in the red light street Soi Buakhao in Pattaya.

They said she was attacked with a snooker cue “until it snapped” and then killed “with a machete in a drug-fuelled sex session”.

The city on Thailand’s eastern seaboard is notorious for its round-the-clock sex industry.

Mr Elliott is alleged to have visited a strip of closed bars before returning to his rented bungalow with a woman.

Thai police said Ms Onn was found in the bathroom of the property with stab wounds to her neck and right wrist.

Officers said they picked up Mr Elliott on a nearby street after he left the property and crashed a motorcycle.

They subsequently arrested him on suspicion of murder. He was reportedly handcuffed and driven to a police station for questioning.

The Thais will have to provide written assurances that he won't be executed, as a condition of him being extradited.

Another thing being, maybe he has both Irish and British passports??

Kissing Ireland’s Blarney Stone, a tradition that’s been around for several centuries, is said to give a person the gift of eloquence and persuasiveness. Maybe he kissed it and got the gift of the gab

The class of Northern Ireland "Loyalist" who would proudly display a Red Hand of Ulster flag is equivalent to someone in the United States flying a confederate flag from the roof of his trailer home, or an Afrikaner with a swastika tattooed on his forehead.

These are trashy and dangerous people who tend to mostly socialize with their own kind and operate a form of omertà. That can come in useful in the aftermath of any mating rituals involving a machete.

99% of people from Northern Ireland are decent but if you ever come across someone with this flag as a tattoo or on their t-shirt, be wary of any involvement.

I see no tattoos or flags. What makes you think that he's a loyalist? if he's gone to ground in the Republic, he's unlikely to be a loyalist. Nice story though.

Adopting such a haughty position, when you clearly have not read the reports from the first time this story was reported, runs the risk of making you look somewhat foolish.

Many Loyalists have a work history in Ireland because the wages are far higher. Northern Ireland itself is actually quite small.

If someone can explain me how a foreigner accused of murder on

a Thai woman, arrested and detained by the Thai police and after

that he had confessed to killing her, has managed to fly back to

his country ? It should be in a prison in Thailand waiting the trial

or i have missed something?

He probably managed to scrape together 1,000baht bail, a few wais and he was on his way!

Born in Fermanagh (UK) so can have both passports. It's indeed odd cos normally Thai police confiscate passport?

Have you personal experience of that, or are you just making that up?

My experience was the complete opposite of what you claim.

Which part of this comment are your questioning?

The first part, that those born in Northern Ireland can have both passports, is true. That was very handy for those jumping in and out of Thailand on Tourist Visas before they introduced biometrics, and is a huge benefit now with Brexit.

The second part, that the Thai police normally confiscate passports while investigating serious crimes involving foreigners, is fairly standard procedure. It might not have be applied in every case, but murder would be considered one of the more serious crimes.

I disagree, police did not confiscate my passport.

Has this happened to you, or are you just going on hearsay?
