choice of destination chonburi / buriram / Phuket with 300+ rooms available more like 300+ hotels available as many I’ve spoken with are selling up and moving out of thailand,. Cant understand why Thailand would want the Chinese returning personally ‘ charter flights another gimmick and it seems everything designed for profit & greed

What does it matter where you come from if you have to have a test on departure, test on arrival and two more tests during your quarantine.  If you've got Covid 19 they'll find it.  Saying that one country is safer than another under those conditions is nonsensical.

It matters because if people are sick, they will have to go to hospital to be treated, and in the case of Covid, you need to arrange the hospital a certain way and have people dressed in space suits to treat them, and thet may die even if it s a small proportion of them. So it s better for Thailand to have some people who should not be seek than people who may be sick. That s not hard to understand, it makes perfect sense.

it makes "perfect" sens for you, but it is because you look at this COVID-19 story with propaganda fear eyes, not with factual wide numbers compared to any other epidemic.

So what does make sens for you is absolutely delimited by your field of consciousness and not by the full reality of this story.

 

Now, if you can consider that:

1/ everybody can be sick, but it was the same before the COVID-19 and in the same proportion in the population right now when you are talking about season flue (it is a fact, just look at this as it is). So your argument fall down to the "rhetoric zero value argument".

2/ die on the road in Thailand (and even in any other countries) is much more possible than die because of COVID.

3/ to be exposed to die because of COVID (out of rare exception), you have to be very very fragile and already sick.

4/ you failed to see the interest conflict in the background of this poor story time with pharmaceutic industry (they put huge money for the vaccine... they want to force people to paid for that to get money back).

 

So definitely, what seems to be not so hard for you to understand is to simple to be correct (as all the time when there is kind of manipulation by fear even if numbers and statistic doesn't justify this kind of fear). Try to motivate yourself to look deeper...

there is no COVID also in Republic of Congo, because they don't test (same Thailand). Can you understand that everywhere where there is not to much tests, there is not to much cases ?

Fact is that COVID has muted and there is a lot (same in Thailand statistically) of positive asymptomatic cases. People who die because of COVID, in proportion, is close to season flue.

China has been impacting Thailand geographically since the 2014 coup which was highly criticized by the United States it's strongest ally as an authoritarian power grab. The Thaksin Shinawatra administration that took office in 2001, and the military governments that repeatedly ousted Thaksinite governments, provided an opportunity for China to engage with Thailand at a high level throughout the 2000s and 2010s while the US was silent on offering comparable diplomacy, aid and significant trade deals.

 

When the US pulled out of the TPP, US-Thailand relations deteriorated further. Menawhile, China's committment to business investment, military equipment and education in Thailand has been on a level that no outside power has done since the US in the Vietnam War. China is now investing in and building physical links through many parts of Thailand's public and private sectors.

 

IMHO inviting Chinese in first was always the preferred choice of the BKK Sino-Thai elites as Thailand has clearly entered into China's geopolitical orbit. China's direct investment is now becoming increasingly critical to the survival of Thailand’s flailing and uncertain economic future. I would expect many if not most of the STV tourists will come from China. Thailand simply ignores the egregious actions of China intentionally releasing the virus throughout the globe. The courting the China cash cow is the name of the game.
