November 4, 20205 yr Popular Post People warned not to let their guard down with Covid By The Nation Dr Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai The Department of Health on Wednesday called on the public to strictly adhere to Covid-19 preventive measures after a recent poll indicated that only 49 per cent of people wear a face mask at entertainment venues or while using public transport. A poll conducted by the department found that 92 per cent of the respondents wore a face mask in shopping malls and retail shops, 90 per cent at exhibition centres and flea markets, 83 per cent at hospitals and sports stadiums, 78 per cent at workplaces, 62.44 per cent at educational institutions and 49 per cent at entertainment venues and transports. Department of Disease Control director-general Dr Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, who also oversees the Department of Health, said that though the Covid-19 situation in Thailand has improved, people should adhere to preventive measures such as wearing a mask, washing hands frequently and maintaining social distancing. "We also want people to check-in and out using the ThaiChana platform,” he said, referring to the tracking app. He also urged restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions, shopping malls, sports stadiums, retail shops, transports, health and beauty centres, exhibition centres, theatres and travel agencies to implement preventive measures, such as setting up Covid-19 screening and hand sanitising checkpoints. November 4, 20205 yr Popular Post Pretty close to what I have been saying I have been seeing at public venues like Khao San Rd., and then China Town during the Vegetarian Festival, a 50/50 mix of those wearing and those without. I blame it on the Governments reporting that they have stopped Covid in its tracks, and have it under control. This gives people a false sense of security. On the other hand, just let it go and stop the madness, open up the country and lets see what happens since the Government has said it is under control, and Covid is not in the domestic arena, except for those rare cases where when they tracked and traced found no other cases.

Other countries need to get things under control before travel can be more open. They tried to hide it, lied about, and allowed wild, endangered species, to be kept live inside cages INSIDE wet markets. A recipe for disaster. As has happened in the past.

November 5, 20205 yr Popular Post Please stop the nonsense. You cannot spread something, when there is nothing here! Just more panic mongering. If and when Thailand opens up to tourism, it may be a different story. It would be easier to catch a 10 lb. wild sockeye salmon in the Gulf, than it would be to catch Covid in Thailand right now.

One of the things they are doing here is to warn Thai people about Burmese migrants. They are coming across the border and the virus is starting to rage there. I've seen the army trucks near Hua Hin going towards the border for patrols. They are issuing a lot of warnings to locals in this area. Even down on the Samui islands.

Thanks for posting this! The Masker Brigade will of course come with the BS story that Thailand is covid-free BECAUSE of the mask-wearing discipline. Utter nonsense. Mask-wearing was imposed when Thailand was in full panic-mode, and the government simply doesn't have the balls to state that it is not necessary anymore and so this idiocy lingers on.

Not necessary other than for the migrants illegally crossing the border. Many of whom are infected.

China's under control, the West isn't. Not all of the West, Australia and NZ are now genuinely Covid free, not so sure about China and a few others Too many of the right wing governed Western countries (think USA & UK) put Wealth before Health and opened far too quickly, now they are paying the price for their greed before need policies
November 5, 20205 yr The risk is not domestic, and therefore it's difficult to make the population keep up with protection, as it doesn't make sense. The real problem for infection – in view of the escalation in many parts of the outside world – is the borders. Just think of that almost daily, new imported cases in quarantine have been reported – many even tested negative before travelling – and that number is relative high, as not that many are let in from foreign areas.

November 5, 20205 yr I wondered how long it would take for a "warning" statement " like this to be issued after allowing "Special" tourists in, and as in the other "Top Story" about a visiting "European" Minister having been found to be infected. (No quarantine for him then - on his 2 day visit?) "There is no Covid in Thailand!!!" Then why the ongoing "State of Emergency" and the need to wear masks to prevent spreading Covid if it is not here anyway? I do however think that it is a good idea for people with colds etc to wear masks and my wife was wearing a mask while outdoors on a regular basis as she hates smoke of any description - either from cigarettes, faulty exhaust systems or neighbours burning rubbish - which is fairly frequently where we live!

And when they are under controle because of having a vaccine don't you qeustion yourself that they might have had it all along ????? All of the rest of the world's doctors and laborants and money couldn't get a vaccine before China did ??? I have several friends who own big factories there. According to them, from their decades long managers, no worries, just a small number of cases. Agreed, they aren't the best with reporting news, but seems they are doing OK with regards to the virus they allowed to be let loose. No conspiracy theories about the virus being created. That's pure BS.

That's the conspiracy theory.
November 5, 20205 yr Would help if everyone on every flight coming into Thailand had proper COVID/SARS swab test within 72 hours to comply with the fit to fly certificate rather than accepting the phone consultation companies which simply issue a FTF certificate on a verbal conversation over the phone to see if you have any covid symptoms!! This is excepted by certain airlines and by immigration in Bangkok from returning Thias yet no physical test has been carried out and explains why returning Thia's on flights have Covid. Pretty sure if they have just paid best part of £1000 for an economy flight they are hardly likely to tell someone on the other end of the phone they have any covid symptoms and risk not being able to fly...I suppose £80 phone consultation and certificate versus £225 for proper swab test and certificate at a proper clinic is the deciding factor. Its also unfair on the Farangs & Thais that have to have the proper swab test and 100% know they are free of COVID/SARS to board a flight with other people who have simply had a phone conversation and hope they are free of it...
