PHUKET:-- Ancient paintings have been found on cave walls at five new sites in Ao Phang Nga National Park, the Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, Prathip Phengtako, has announced.

 

Mr Prathip explained yesterday (Nov 4) that officers at the Fine Arts Office Region 12 office in Nakhon Sri Thammarat were informed of the cave paintings by national park officers and came to inspect the paintings on Oct 27-28.

 

The newly discovered cave paintings were found on Koh Thalu Nok, Koh Khaotao, Koh Khai, Koh Yang Daeng and in the Nok Krarian cave.

Does anybody know who these people were and where did they come from? What is the historical context.

all from China, their boat/raft sank there, out of boredom their start to draw stuff 555

Apart from exiting fish it always amaze me how alike ancient cave paintings are, like a globalized spirit of art – I'm looking at the human-like figure upper right – I however cannot say if these cave paintings are copy cats; ancient or more present...

Highly unlikely they are anywhere near that old given the exposed nature of the wall structure. Even the oldest European cave paintings are no older that 35000 years, and the are deep in well protected locations.
