Today I posted 4 Christmas cards to the UK and one to the USA by airmail, total cost, 126bht.

 

I posted my UK completed Gov. life certificate back to them by airmail, cost 17bht....

 

Seems the thread is a false alarm....????

Incorrect, Thailand mail service has standard pricing and rules, it should be the same whichever post office you go to.

Many things in Thailand that 'should be' aren't.

I just checked the receipt for the card, it had the weight of the card,I thought 

a standard card would be ,what 21 Thb, it had cost for postage 26 Thb, then

a (what translates) as special tax ?? 40 Thb.but the biggest thing that confuses

me is the customs declaration sticker for a Xmas card.....

They told me this is not just a Thailand thing but in co operation with postal services around the globe.  Whether or not this will be a permanent pricing remains to be seen but will be like this while the world is still gripped by covid.

Got a similar reply in the P.O. here in Europe. Yes, charges went up.

It seems to me that we all forget the this time of year everything takes longer if by postal service or delivery service, their is more stuff to deliver. As for the cost I have no comment nor objection. If you have Facebook send your Christmas card from there, it's free.

To clarify, please see the attached screen shot from the Thai Post website:  40 baht now available for an airmail  letter; 220 baht + 40 baht surcharge for trackable airmail letter.  The website does not indicate the weight limits for these rates.

I am pleased that's the only Xmas card I will have to post,the rest

I got a receipt for posting one card to the UK (Nana Post Office) - 26 baht (airmail).

Christmas cards are nice, but for the last few years I have used Jacquie Lawson e-cards.

 

Every two years I renew my subscription

 

What do I do with the few cards that I get, just use the blank page for reminder notes

I like to send a card so it can be seen on the mantle piece until the 6th of January.

I haven’t seen a lot of mental pieces in Thailand. Used to send them when we lived in the UK, but that was 13+ years ago now
