on a 10 years water heater, do you know if it's better to just change it or is there anything to look when the TRIP light switches ON after using few seconds or when pushing the test button ?

then need to turn off the breaker to get the trip light OFF and use heater few seconds again.

Probably best to replace.  Most likely the heating element causing the trip and there's not much can be done to repair.

Yeah, I agree with @bankruatsteve after 10 years it's time to replace the beast.

 

Before administering the coup-de-grace do pop the lid off (power off at the mains) and check there's no wildlife taken up residence, gekkos and the like can cause unwanted trips.
