All I can tell you is that the virus is supposedly raging here in the UK but still most of our hospitals are empty. The temporary nightingale hospitals that were built have now all been closed after never seeing 1 single patient  ????

Fear is the key ????

Do you know why the nightingale hospitals closed?  It's was due to the regulations around them.  Not a lack of patients. Where did you get this news?  Hmmm....

You should read this, seems hospitals are filling up quite rapidly.

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/healthcare

https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/health-and-social-care-secretarys-statement-on-coronavirus-covid-19-14-december-2020

We’ve seen an increase of 14% in the last week and the number of patients admitted to hospital across the UK has risen again too.

The average number of new cases reported each day is 18,023 which is up on last week.

Today, there are 16,531 COVID patients in hospitals across the UK – which is also up.

I think that the main reasons for the lack of covid deaths here stem from thailand be a culture of non-physical contact, with the wai and not hugging/kissing that is co common in most other cultures.

Also, most of the deaths occur in the elderly who have obesity-associated comorbidities; high blood pressure, diabetes, etc..  here in thailand, most of the elderly are bone thin, who didnt change their diet over the past decade or so when junk food became more available here... the fatties here are commonly in the younger generations

the abundant sunlight here and its affect on Vit D levels is may also contribute to the infection/death rate

With a death rate of ~ 7.8 per 1,000, ~500,000 people die here every year. Only about 30% die in a hospital. ~45,000 die from regular influenza/pneumonia/lower resp infections.

For the first nine months this year...daily deaths down a bit.

Overall, 111,950 deaths were reported within the public-hospital system during the first 267 days of fiscal 2020, which began nine months ago. That amounts to about 419 a day, compared with a daily average of 460 deaths during the year-earlier period, according to the Health Ministry’s database.

Without an estimate of total excess deaths, it is challenging to fully quantify the impacts of COVID.

The "we're not being overrun with corpses" argument is interesting, but hardly valid, unless you're a casting director for a zombie film.

"Without an estimate of total excess deaths"

Maybe you can explain how there can be any excess deaths if the average is below normal.

Facts hmmm

Can't say for other places but 86% are asymptomatic in the UK.

It would seem that governments can do what they want with this virus.

Please prove that fact or remove your post as fake news.  It's not appreciated here.

I don't know about Cambodia but Thailand is definitely not publishing accurate numbers. As per an article by

Bloomberg, dated Nov. 24/20, Thailand ranked # 15 in the world as the worst place to be for covid. New Zealand and

Japan ranked the # 1 and 2 safest places.  Even Canada and Germany were safer places than Thailand.

Well that works out around 12 people per hospital, I'm surprised they can handle it.

The nightingales were shut because they were not needed as first believed same as all the ppe which wasn't needed much of which is just stuck in storage atm.

If your in the UK you should know this, if not ????

The PCR test being used is not fit for purpose and the virus has still yet to be isolated so false negatives are obviously going to happen.

Now go and delete all your scaremongering figures their not welcome here I've been told ????

Yes an effective lockdown starting very early in Covid pandemic threats. Province boundaries closed and checked. Country borders closed. Flight to Thailand cancelled. Even valid visa holders not welcome. And fear, fear and fear. It is easy to frighten the superstitious Thai people. And moreover the Thai people's attitude helps a lot in following the rules set by army and just wait for better times. But the economy is a total disaster. People have no jobs or less working days meaning no or less money. No food, bo roof. But people are still healthy in a country where health services to ordinary people is set to a minimum. Vaccination will com but vaccines are not ordered yet.

mtls2005 laid it out nicely above. Nothing to do with testing.  That's a debunked dog whistle for covid deniers.

Absolutely. And where I live free testing was available in at least 4 locations within a couple of KM during the first few months with queues. The testing rates were substantially higher than those reported on the global stats sites which sometimes didn’t move for weeks.

Look at how they do the ratings. One criteria they don't do good in is availability of upcoming jabs. The biggie, is Thailand's ability to rebound.  Not good with such a significant part of the GDP coming from tourism.

On everything else, they did great.

Report people who die from respiratory illness as having died from viral pneumonia.

While it might seem as Thailand has done a good job of managing covid the figures which are reported are grossly understated (same as deaths on roads, only report people who are dead at the scene). This is a function of all authoritarian 'governments'.

From that, I take it you're not all that interested in any vaccine either?

They are waiting for their Chi... buddies to come up with a proper vaccine. They don't dare to buy from an "American" Pharma giant.

That's completely at odds with what's reported by the WHO and CDC.  A one off study doesn't cut it.  Most reports say between 20 and 50% are asymptomatic.  Not 86%. That number is scaremongering.

That is a resiilenance rating and that’s defined as:

where has the virus been handled most effectively with the least amount of disruption to business and society

Few would argue that the government here has done a terrible job supporting small business despite the (globally accepted regardless of the armchair experts in this forum) effective medical response. You are comparing apples with oranges.

Thailand did it by being quick and sensible in the application of precautions and the Thais largely followed the government lead. Additionally, a large number of tourist farangs left, so that was okay too.  Cambodia,  because they are lying through their teeth.

What's your conclusion?

god can claim most of it as has been reported many many times less cases because of the warm weather, seem no one likes that simple answer, or they can not read, or perhaps their minds wonder off when reading and they dream up their own ideas as is the case with a couple of Thais among others

You know that manufacturing doesn't mean the same as ordering? There will be more products hat are manufatured in Thailand, but not sold here.

Government announced only last week, that they don't know yet when a vaccine will be available. Thread is somewhere on this forum.\
