Chonburi's governor Phakrathorn Thianchai said yesterday that after 240 days without a case the province has registered its first.

She is a 19 year old Cambodian woman who entered Thailand illegally and went to Phan Thong to seek work.

She travelled in a van with ten other people who have all tested negative. The Cambodian woman is now in quarantine and the others are also being monitored.

There have also been checks with seafood traders with contacts to Samut Sakhon, the epicenter of the outbreak that has put many parts of Thailand on the verge of lockdown once again.

Two traders who went to Samut Sakhon on December 2nd - one from Muang district of Chonburi and one who lives in Bang Manung in the Pattaya area - are waiting for results of Covid tests after going to the authorities.

Tests have also been carried out on 147 people at seafood restaurants - they are Thais, Cambodians, Myanmar and Laotian people.

So far 107 have tested negative with 40 pending.

The governor urged people with concerns who had contact with Samut Sakhon to contact health authorities for a free test.

Do farang get a Free test? dont think so

  1. Those who have travelled to any foreign country and show symptoms of respiratory distress, including coughing, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty in breathing and temperature over 37.3℃
  2. Patients in medical facilities who show symptoms of respiratory distress and have temperature over 37.5 degrees Celsius, as well as fitting either one of the following criteria: Having a career that involves public contact, having been to crowded areas, used to be in contact with a Covid-19 patient. All patients in medical facilities who have pneumonia will also get a free Covid-19 test.
  3. Medical staff who have contact history with a Covid-19 patient and show symptoms of respiratory distress as well as have temperature over 37.5C
  4. Those involved in cluster group cases, be they at least three medical staff or five people who are from the same place, and show symptoms of respiratory infection but test negative for any type of flu.

You will be getting free test if you are among those 4 categories. They called it "people who are under investigation".

Oh how LOS would be a pristine independent self sufficient country if it weren't for all of these dirty diseased "outsiders" coming in and ruining their Utopia...........(thoughts swimming with the heads of Thai officials)

Maybe they will build cages for us.....I know of a half built second hand wall for sale ..available in a few weeks..

Just dont ask China about how their Wall turned out....or if Mexico paid for it..

Would you really want a vaccine that was made here?  I would one of they two they have in America. I would pay for its but I do have Tricare.  I also wrote to the American Embassy and see if they are going to give injections. They should have it for their people other government  employees and service members here now.  Why not us American Expats here.

they can just shoot a placebo into your arm at airport and you pay 500 bt.---they get the money and we get entry

Done and done....make my vaccine sangsom as it kills everything it comes in contact with..maybe even covid?

And will officials investigate border officials, or is it too much of an official hot potato?

Apparently so, according to the PM.

It seems that not all illegals wade accross rivers or hack through jungle. If the price is right they can waltz through immigration portals and officials there become much enriched.

See the front page of today's Bangkok Post.

Well it is a matter of concern that people are crossing illegally and bypassing quarantine regs. We have seen what those from Burma have caused and Cambodians have been doing it too.

Jolly bad luck if she crossed from Cambodia.

They only have 14 active cases and she must be one of them! ????

'Cambodian illegal...' They just can't help having a dig, can they? Does it really matter (in the headline) who tested positive?

Yes. The demographics of infection vectors are essential to addressing the issue. Whether such details should be kept secret and secret from whom is another issue.
