Thailand will build a spacecraft within seven years with a budget of around Bt3 billion, according to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

Minister Anek Laothamatas announced on Thursday that Thailand will produce high-tech satellites in four years, before advancing to build a spaceship with a weight of 300 kilograms for a mission to the moon.

The ship will be powered by a xenon ion thruster, the same propulsion method used by Nasa for interplanetary space missions. The spacecraft will travel at 11 kilometres per hour to the moon, before slowing to enter lunar orbit at 2kph.

Thailand’s first lunar mission will be officially announced in January, Anek said.

The priorities of this Government seem to be backwards.  Hopefully all of the money they use will have been donated by the very rich private citizens, as well as the top power brokers in the Government for the seats they will buy on the space craft.  As NASA found out its name meant Needs Another Seven Astronauts many many years ago, Thailands space agency should be named TANGSA, or The All or Nothing Government Space Agency.

Plenty of nothing then !!

This has to be a joke! They can't even build their own submarine so we are to believe that they can put together a Moon mission? The country is broke. The government is lost in it's own imagination of what is so far from possible or real. Logic and realism are far too hard to comprehend it seems. So a mission. To the moon or high orbit for that matter.... it has to be a joke?

11 kilometres per hour to the moon?  So very slow.  Then it will only take a bit over 4 years to get there.
 Okay.... LOL ????

They could always take a taxi instead!????

The porkies they are prepared to tell and throw into the media spotlight for the all consuming public to shift attention away from Covid19 and zero tourism,........ the mind boggles!

Why don't they prioritize and focus on a national grid for the supply of power and water, get those unsightly dangerous electric cables underground, ensure sewage isn't flowing into the sea in tourist destinations, fix the pavements and side walks and cancel the latest round of Chinese armaments and submarines.

Too much like hard work?
