Popular Post Mavideol
I thought somebody at the Prayut's gang was looking at removing(or already did remove) the discriminatory/discrimination DUAL Over pricing fee to enter parks here, I guess I was expecting too much from these scum bags, my wrong, so today decided to visit Krabi with some Thai friends, group of 6 people (2 foreigners included) and we went to Krabi Fossil park, were instructed to purchase tickets at the both, much to our surprise the lady ask for 5 Thai to pay a price and for the 2 of us to pay different price, we all looked at each other with surprising look and asked why, she pointed to a sign located to the left of her booth, Thai friends start to argue and told her we have Pink card, live here for many years and we all should pay same price, she pretended not to understand and kept pointing at the sign... we then realized that it was a lost cause and the park has nothing special to see besides some rocks with some (or they say) fossil gravures dated 75 millions years ago, not my cup of tea and was not looking for any arguments, we did U Turn and left.... there was nobody there, park and stores empty, tourism is down to zero and yet they still practice dual pricing with an attitude.... Thailand should prepare itself for a rude/unpleasant awakening 13 2 6

Golden Triangle
Was there a couple of years back with the Mrs (Thai) fortunately the tide was in at the time so nothing to see (yippee ????) I also wasn't looking forward to a rather treacherous descent and steep return trip. So we ventured down to the shooting range not far away, much more fun ????

But, don't do it in a way that is both sneaky and insulting.

DaLa
yeh, kind of annoying. Rented a boat for a day out in the marine 'park', 40 baht for Thai 400 for farang. Having said that the boats are half price compared to last year.

Popular Post scubascuba3
These parks are best avoided until/if the dual pricing stops. I accept dual pricing at where I play golf 250 baht foreigner vs 120 baht Thai because otherwise I'd be paying 2,000 baht elsewhere, but apart from that I avoid anywhere that dual prices 5

Popular Post Patong2021
Good that OP go away. The only thing the people who do this understand is money. Don't give them the money. They can keep hoping China tourists come back to pay high price. Not right what they do and for that I give them language of curses many times over.

You cant compare a nationalist/racist dual price to local discounts in USA. Any Thai person who moves to Florida even for a short time like a college student can easily get a local ID card or drivers license. Then they will get a local discount. Instantly have every right under law as a citizen except to vote. So where on the scale does Florida sit on discrimination compared to Thailand again? 1 1

No idea, that's why I was asking the question. As for the dual pricing in Thailand, as they say "up to you", personally I vote with my wallet (as I do in other parts of the world where dual pricing isn't unique to Thailand as people want to make out).

If that's going to ruin someone's day, I suggest they aren't Thailand's target demographic- not the foreigners they want to cater to. You’ve missed the whole point with a somewhat apologist response. There is no reasonable excuse whatsoever for charging foreigners additional fee’s - its simply distasteful. - The amount is completely irrelevant. - The excuse that foreigners can theoretically afford more is flawed, plenty of wealthy Thai’s. - The excuse that Thai’s pay tax is flawed, plenty of foreigners do pay taxes. - The excuse that is also happens in other countries is flawed, local residents discounts apply to any resident and are not based on nationality. I have yet to see one reasonable or acceptable argument in favour of charging foreigners excess fees for anything, in Thailand or any other country (outside of educational establishments). Recently upon entering Koh Samet I was charged the Thai price with a Pink ID. Fair enough, but I still think its outrageous that a place which wants to attract as many tourists as possible practices dual pricing for foreigners. 7

Pilotman
Don't go, simple. There are plenty of other nice places in Thailand to spend your money. I stopped going anywhere near the south of the country years ago after being constantly ripped off by the greedy locals.
