Tennessee man accused of being 'zip tie guy' pictured at Capitol riot arrested in Nashville

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Tennessee man who had expressed pro-Trump views and was accused by online researchers of carrying plastic hand restraints in the U.S. Senate during the Capitol riot Wednesday, has been arrested.

The Nashville man, Eric Munchel, 30, was being held in a Nashville jail Sunday on a federal warrant, online records show. An FBI spokesperson, Samantha Shero, confirmed the arrest.

This one is obviously one that should receive a little more "justice" than the average "patriot" when sentences start being handed out. What do you think he was planning with those restraints he brought to the party?

Can't help but looking at history and connecting the dots when you know people of a certain stripe have access to [Trump]

Italy revokes Steve Bannon’s right to use a monastery for his political “gladiator” school

I suspect part of keeping Bannon arrested is an attempt to keep him from making trouble abroad, he's been in contact with Europe's worst.

It started with the brownshirts (aka SA) beating people up in the streets, and when they had no more use for the crude bullies they were supplanted by trained troops (SS), who did away with the SA in a most disdainful manner (ahem!).  For a dramatisation of the succession see the film The Damned

And then things got even worse, but  we know all that.

Steve Bannon isn't currently being detained. He is awaiting trial.

Boise man who stormed U.S. Capitol building: 'I got caught up in the moment'

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A Boise man who stormed the U.S. Capitol building is speaking out about his actions. Photos from Wednesday’s siege of the U.S. Capitol building appeared to show Josiah Colt climbing down the balcony onto the Senate floor.

CBS2 News has been in contact with Colt and received the following statement:

“I love America, I love the people, I didn’t hurt anyone and I didn’t cause any damage in the Chamber. I got caught up in the moment and when I saw the door to to the Chamber open, I walked in, hopped down, and sat on the chair. I said my peace then I helped a gentlemen get to safety that was injured then left.

When will all those GOP politicians who supported Trump's lies for years be prosecuted?

Without those spineless enablers that coup attempt would not have happend.

Arrest those who are responsible and not just the gullible foot soldiers!

Some of their corporate masters are withholding funds. That says it all - ever since Citizens United corporate money has been the mother's milk of all congress.

How vile are republicans?

Newly elected House Rep lauren boebert, a high school drop out and the one who insists she should be allowed to carry her Glock on to the House floor, actually  kept live-Tweeting the location of Speaker Pelosi during the Capitol siege.

There is only one possible explanation for that, and it is not good.

She should be kicked out of the House immediately and be charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Technically she tweeted where Pelosi wasn't. She was keeping her cards close to her chest. She's still in hot water, and I hope that water boils her out of office.

Biden better enact the Insurrection Act and enact martial law as soon as he is sworn in and round up all of the Trump Supporters and sympathizers and put them where they can not do harm to our blessed US Democracy.   Then open the southern borders.  Justice will prevail.

He's got a much cooler head on his shoulders. NOT his first rodeo, I trust he will do what needs to be done while trying to turn down the heat - much UNLIKE the loser-in-chief who LOVES misery and division.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose father was a Nazi soldier, compared it to Kristallnacht or the Night of Broken Glass, in his heartfelt video released on Sunday.

While I can appreciate his good intentions, and may agree with most of what he’s saying in this video, and certainly condemn these acts of domestic terrorism — comparing anything to the Reichskristallnacht or what happened in Nazi Germany in general is wrong. He really needs to go back to the history books and understand what happened in that night in Europe before risking to (unintentionally) downplaying it by making inadequate comparisons.

“Jewish homes, hospitals and schools were ransacked as attackers demolished buildings with sledgehammers. Rioters destroyed 267 synagogues throughout Germany, Austria and the Sudetenland. Over 7,000 Jewish businesses were damaged or destroyed, and 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and incarcerated in concentration camps.”

No. Arnold lived through this. What happened in the terrorist capitol attack is exactly how it started in the early 1940's. To defend or mitigate the capitol attack is aiding these shameful terrorists.

Ummm....he lived through it.  Didn't you listen to what he said?  I'd say, he knows more about this than any of us here....

The Beer Hall Putsch may have been a better event to compare? But Arnold has the personal experience and gravitas to invoke anything he chooses. Our Kristalnacht may be coming if we're not vigilant, is what I took away from his video.

No, he didn’t. He was born after it.

And I didn’t defend or mitigate anything. I think my first sentence made that clear.

At the same time, we should be careful about what comparisons we use in order to not (unintentionally) downplaying the sufferings and crimes millions of Jews were subject to in Nazi Germany. I thought the last bit of my reply made that clear.

No, he was born in 1947, two years after  the war was over. He may have seen the aftermaths, and I can appreciate that.

Yes, maybe. What is happening with Trump and the GOP certainly looks very much like Fascism, so I understand these comparisons, and I would make some of it myself. All I’m saying is we should be careful comparing anything to the sufferings and crimes the Jews were subject of during that time. The scale of that tragedy is so massive that any comparison with present events risks (unintentionally) downplaying it.

No, you're missing the whole point. Arnold was pointing out this is how it started, and if we don't stop it quick, fast, and in a hurry, it's gonna happen in the US. That  45 terrorist followers are racists is painfully obvious.

Yeah, Arnie was young, but did live through this.  To say he didn't is....well....you know...

Anyway, great speech.  Sad some don't like it.

The truth?

Hasn't the current situation been caused by "fake news".

He wasn't born until after the war is over. He no doubt has an intimate knowledge of the aftermath and, one would hope, the actions that led up to it being possible which IMO gives more power to his words.

Indeed Arnold does.  His father was an Austrian member of the Nazi Party who joined ten days before the Anschluss and a member of the SA (Storm Troopers.)
