Gambling and Covid: Top cop thanks public informant for tip that led to Pattaya bust

The acting head of the Region 2 police has praised a member of the public that provided a tip that led to a raid on a gambling den in Pattaya on Friday night.

Chinese, Thais and a Cambodian were arrested in two rooms at a Jomtien condominium.

Pol Lt-Gen Roi Ingkhaphairot said it was the first tip his men had received.

He also praised the media.

He said that the police could only do their job with the help of the public.

Several ways were published by Thai Rath in their story in which people could make "Gambling Reports".

Information would go directly to him, said Lt-Gen Roi.

The issue of gambling, long since tolerated by the Royal Thai Police, is now a hot topic as dens are seen as spreaders of Covid-19.

Gambling is just like prostitution , you will never stop either and should just legalise both and be done with it .

Should have read a rival operator provided the tip off.

Not reported in the media sure...but "others" will already know :unsure:

I was expecting the OP photo to be that of the Informant

A pal of mine only last week was telling me the whereabouts of two other gambling dens both in prominent areas in Central Patts...if he knows about them (no he,s not a gambler) how come the cops don,t ...:sad:

How long will it take before he's transfered? Same question for the Snitch but a bit different kind of transfer.

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

I'm sure he means it was the first tip they were forced to act upon, given the circumstances.

How many times over the years have we read reports of people calling/visiting the police, only to be told there was nothing they could do?

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy: Even more laughter.

Instant 'spin doctor' - just add water.

Yet another face saving exercise, having been forced to act. Now trying to put a brave (but red) face on the situation.

It is the current Covid spreading that this achieves we worry of right now.

Two bloody posts in and we have this strawman mentioned both times...

Or the guy they would not let in, or maybe kicked out when he ran out of money.

"the first tip his men had received."......so the good Pol-Lt-General they really didn't know of the dens existence? What a croc! The place would not have been operating without their permission.

Agree with Blue Sofa above - Pattaya Plod do nothing unless forced to, by FB or other Social Media.  In this case raiding a den could be cynically seen as eliminating the opposition.

Snitches get stitches, and end up in ditches....

The boss will not be favoured by the local constabulory but did not have a lot of choice

once the "tip" came in but to lock it down.

There may be a slight reduction in "tea money" being passed up the ladder for the next 3 months

Perhaps they for whatever reason don't do their job? It is a sad situation if the police needs such outside information that cannot be ignored anymore and so forces them to act.

When it comes to online casinos, I prefer online casinos with a one pound sterling deposit. This type of casino is very suitable for beginners, because in this way and with such a minimum deposit they can spend much less money in the process of learning the game. On the website https://casinosters.com/1-pound-deposit-casinos/ you can read reviews of the best British online casinos that provide a deposit of just one pound sterling.
