There are car/truck dealers in most Ampeurs in Thailand. In Surin you have, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Ford, Chevrolet, Izuzu, Honda. In Sisaket, they're all probably there, but the only one I know is on the corner of the Ubon/Sisaket/Surin T- junction, on the Ubon side of town. Not sure which flavour it is, but someone else is bound to come up with that one.

A typical pick-up will cost around 700k

You should be able to get away with 30% down payment and the rest in 2, 3, 4 or 5 years instalments through the dealer.

My experience is that the car must be in the name of a Thai to be able to get the dealer's financing.

When I bought from Honda (a car) the deal was 1.5% on financing which came out quite cheap.

On what to buy you will get better responses in the car forum

Take your time to go around the dealers as the quotations will vary a lot as will availability fo the model/color you want.

Enjoy your shopping

Thanks everyone for your in-put. Anyone have the name of the dealerships in Surin or Si-Sa-Ket, I'm in Iraq right now, however if the dealership has a webpage I can check it out now, and I plan on putting the Pick-up in my TG's name, as a matter I am going to let her do all the talking, she is pretty tough when it comes to buying.stuff.

Also if I had the name I could look it up in the yellow pages that one of the other BM's sent me. Thanks

Sorry cannot help you therebut if you look up Toyota (Thailand) I am sure you should be able to get a list of their dealers in the region.

http://www.toyota.co.th/red/en/sale_network.asp

Same for other brands you want to consider.

I am in Tokyo now so cannot help you more but local guys should help you.

I think also you would do good to post in the Car forum as there they have plenty of knowledge on the different models and you could narrow your search before contacting the dealers themselves.

Keep safe in Iraq

I'll miss you by about 4 days, my TG's villiage is in Phu Sing, that is if it is still there, it has been raining like crazy, I have had major problems calling her, she only has a cell phone, heavy rain and thunderstorms; last 2 or 3 days, and more in the forecast.

Shouldn't be far from Khun Han where I should spend most of my time

Enjoy your time while there, they are used to the rain !
