Many expat here use prostitutes willy nilly and try to justify it by calling them things that try to hide the fact, like bargirl, escort etc.

always disapointing when see guys sprouting morals whilst flirting with their wifes frirnds then tuggin off..... hypocrites... go join the monkhood...   ohh thats right, they are worse.... leave the shcoolboys alone!

Seems to be mostly lonely sad old men that got hurt in a previous time and never looked at themselves and refelcted why.  Plus, those waffling on about Thai culture ... you are farang and sure you can have thai friends but will never really be a part of the gang despite how many amulets you have dangling around your neck.

Last night I was at a dinner at a friends house.

it was mostly couples, and a few single thai guys.

Everyone at the dinner was Thai except myself.

As the night grew on and the drinks got slung back , the topic of 'mia nois' came up.

It turns out that every single Thai guy at that table who was either in a relationship or was married had 'a bit on the side.'

Some had more than a bit on the side

and some were just downright greedy... ????

My wife then looked at me and said 'you dont, do you love?'

to which I replied 'of course not darling', but in a very sarcastic way.

I suppose what I want to know is if you are married, do you ever play away from home?

Considering the numbers last night and the open admitting in front of their wives, I would say that it is very common in Thailand for the man to fill his boots whenever he gets the chance.

And none of their wives seemed to give a monkeys.

To my mind, if the other person involved says its OK then more power to them I say..

and as for the demographic of the people at the dinner, all of them were well educated with good jobs and good social circles.

What are your thoughts? ????

Thailand is stuffed full of women with kids whose husband just upped and walked out. Philippines is the same (just as an aside).

Without going into the male mentality here, I believe women may be putting up with a bad job by accepting that their husband screws other women, so long as he brings in money and comes home most nights. ????

I think it is unnatural for a man to be with the same women sexually forever.

I have no problem with guys that fool around. Every last married guy I know in Pattaya does in fact, that is why they want to live there.

So what, who cares wear a condom and have a good time go back to your wife because you love her, not the others.

yes mate!

Totally agree.

I don't go to Pattaya much, Hua hin is more my cup er tea..

Might pay a visit there though once this current covid crisis is over.

Married Men: Do you enjoy 'a bit on the side?'

Actually I like a nice Dos XX with a bit of lime on the side.  Interestingly enough, my marital status never changed that habit.
After a few Dos XX I may like something a little more tart on the side, but then I'd be in Mexico and who would know the better?

His last few comments, written 7 hours ago as I type this so am if he's in Thailand, have been almost incoherent.

It's interesting what becomes acceptable by some people here.  I guess maybe a retiree who drinks all day every day.  It's just a bit strange that they lack the ability to think objectively.  OK, you have an older gentleman, he doesn't have to work, he drinks daily, he married a Thai girl several decades his junior (just speculating here), and, possibly, it's more of an "exchange of goods and services" type of thing, which is fine if both parties are consenting adults.  You could understand why they think that "Thai women don't mind if you have sex with other women and they cheat as well", if they were in this kind of situation.  But they then apply this generalisation, as if all Thai women are exactly the same.

I guess possibly one or two of the guys here commenting about sleeping around and cheating on their wives are young 20s/30s professionals, married to middle class educated Thais, who they have children with and a loving relationship.  But I kind of doubt it.

I could be wrong about all of this, of course.

I remember a Durex survey of Thai sex habits quite a few years back.  It turns out that more married and otherwise involved Thai women are getting a little (more) on the side than their Thai male counterparts.  Given what I've seen over the years with female Thai acquaintances I tend to believe that's very true, especially considering I've live my entire time in Thailand within the Thai community except for perhaps the first six months I was here.  In the US it's called the Gig economy; in Thailand it's the Gik economy.  Sex is fungible.  Most Westerns I've known here never can really grasp the differences between their own ethics/morality and Thai ethics/morality.  Most Westerners suffer from cognitive dissonance as well as good, old-fashioned Protestant-ethics guilt.  Lol.  Not too many Protestant Thais in Thailand.  And most Thais know the 5 precepts by heart, can repeat them religiously, then carry on without a worry in the world.  And with no guilt.
It's really a different world.

The survey has already been mentioned, but it's a little problematic.  It's not super clear how they gathered their data.  Also the survey interviewed 29,000 women from 36 countries which averages out to 805.

The nature of the survey could also lead to a bias, given that it involves openly discussing sexual habits.  The fact that a conservative woman (or man) may not feel comfortable with, or particularly motivated towards, discussing such intimate details, pretty much automatically means that the people who are willing to answer the survey could be people that are very open/liberal sexually.  This means that before the survey has even begun the bias possibly leans towards potentially selecting cheaters.  I couldn't imagine an extremely conservative woman who maybe waited until she got married to have sex, would be too keen to take part in a survey that asks about cheating on her spouse and similar questions.

There's also a chance, if they targeted condom buyers in selecting respondents, that this again biased towards people who are less committed sexually.  (Assuming that married people who are not cheating probably opt for contraceptive pill or similar.)

Or you could make a board and a list and post up all your findings.. like a detective......  dont go out, dont have sex.. get to the bottom of this massive investigation...   and send the results to yourself..

Yeah, if a man leaves then there's pretty much zero chance of finding someone new, even without kids.  Add kids and there's no finding someone new and having to raise kids alone.  No welfare available like in the West (where kids are a winning lottery ticket).

There's also the discrimination.  Apparently women who are divorced have that status follow them around and they can't easily hide it.

It's very sad, but you can see why a cheating husband is better than no husband, given that that husband may be their only crack at being married.  No do overs.

maybe these guys just need to show off, are afraid of loosing face, or want to demonstrate how strong they are, or whatever Puberal thoughts and concerns they may entertain.

in answer the question:
No,
seen that, done that, off the bucket list already !

I think any red blooded male that has not at least thought about a bit extra curricular, is probably hormone deficient. As for actually doing anything about it...that information, for me, is not for public consumption.

Married women are the best ????

Formerly married women are better, they are usually anxious to please, and determined not to spoil a second chance at security.

The problem with married women is their husbands might be bigger, stronger or more skilled. Not a good recipe for an intact skin.

Senior. Lost your Google tab in the bookmarks menu, or just lazy?

What was Baby Bushes wife's name?

I don't like using Google, rather sad expecting all your questions to be answered using Google. Careful, you might end losing any social skills you ever learned and becoming an old man stuck on his computer all day, looking for things to moan about ????

In English we say What's good for the goose is good for the gander ! (Or the other way round).

So just pose the same question to your other halves and see what they say.

I have slept with many ladies here that are married or in a relationship with someone else. So yes, they do it too. A vast majority seem to be very curious about older white men and meet me on a regular basis never asking for money.

The actual problem is the gun many of them keep. Applies to jealous exes also, so beware recent Thai divorcees.

What did your last slave die of?

I look forward to golf, exercise, swimming, shopping, my scooter, massages, restaurant meals and time with my GF, not necessarily in that order. Your concern for my social skills is touching, I get along OK. But not with trolls who use pejorative putdowns.

For the sake of equality in 2021 shouldn't we be asking each of the partners of the couples (married or not) who has a relationship with an LGBTQ or a "hetro" person outside of the person they live with and if they are the same or a different race/nationality?

Guy was 61 years old, probably didn't have a lot of use left for it in the west.

In England, I could have managed without mine when I was 40+.
