Good afternoon.

My girlfriend has recently had an extension to her house done and isn't happy with everything. Would anyone be able to recommend a builder who could come and fix the problems? Mostly involves rebuilding a few things inside the extension. She is quite capable of speaking in English to get her point across. She is based in Bangkok. She really needs someone compentent, Thai or foreign.

Kind regards.

Ever find anyone?

1) nobody really wants to come and fix/repair someone else’s shoddy work. You never know what you might find, there maybe a serious underlying issue with the original work, and you end up getting all the blame. Why not get the original team back to fix the mistakes they made? Building an extension is a pretty major job, eg they would have needed to ensure the correct foundation work was done. If it was not, then she may have significant problem in the future.

2)personally ,  I would never use a foreigner for small construction jobs inThailand. If your wife is Thai , get her to talk to  neighbours and friends to see if they have any recommendations  for THAI workers, (there are some good ones , if you look). Maybe she will find someone through her own network, who is happy to take this on..

From my experience, a high proportion of  foreigners (ie non SE Asian) involved in this kind of business,  in Thailand, tend to be pretty dodgy , small time , ex crims , from the U.K.or rest of Europe. Best avoided.
