Drying out fish pond: prudent custom?

Featured Replies

Drying out, taking the fish.

Does this really makes sense?

Water management wise?

Keeping the walls strong?

Easiest way to catch the fish, the rest i don't know.

Try and PM member ozzydom,he has good fish farming knowledge.

We have a few fish-ponds in our area ,some are often  dried out ,and they spread lime in the dried pond ,which I would say would kill any Bactria /spores that would harmful to the next batch of fish .

But I would have thought the sun would have killed off any pathogens ,

You need to dry the pond and take out all fishes. If you have old fish in the pond, they will eat the new baby fishes.
