RTP chief announces arrests in two major online frauds worth 550 million baht

Thailand's "Police Cyber Taskforce" has busted what they say are two major online scams worth 550 million baht.

 

Those arrested deny everything. 

 

Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk - he's the one in the center in our picture - gave the details.

 

The first case involved the Lucky Doca game run by two women, Thanaporn, 25, and Thitipha, 31 who were charged with defrauding the public. 

 

In the game you had to buy "dogs"  then sell them on to new members with the organizers controlling the price. After a while they fled with all the money - 50 million was circulating. 

 

Thanaporn was found with 10 million in her account while her alleged accomplice was also involved in other games including Thanakhan Ball (Ball Bank) where football players were "bought and sold". 

 

Their exploits were aided by a well known YouTube influencer, said the general, who alleged they had made the money in just four months defrauding 500 people. Forty of those have filed complaints with the police.

 

In the other case two men were arrested - Nonthaphat, 35, and Denthanakorn, 37. They denied everything too.

 

They were allegedly running "S-Club" a fraud whereby people were encouraged to join a scheme inviting others to play in casinos around the world for commission. 

 

Seminars were organised in many provinces. 

 

Their fraud is allegedly 500 million baht after they offered nine investment packages from 21,000 baht up to 5 million. 

 

In this case that was connected to SCG Capital there are believed to be 400 victims.
