Police are investigating after a well dressed gold shop robber stole a 54,000 baht gold necklace then fled in a Honda Accord.

A new one of those is worth about 1.5 million baht, notes Thaivisa.

The snatch robbery occurred at the Yaowarat Sinthawee gold shop on the ground floor of a Big C mall in  Rama 2 in Bang Khun Thian west of Bangkok.

Sales lady Kamonkan, 45, said the 30-40 year old man was well turned out in short sleeved white shirt, black pants, leather shoes and was wearing a black cap and surgical mask.

He was looking at a two baht weight necklace and discussing the price when he suddenly ran out with the item.

Staff and a member of the public called Nipphon, 23, gave chase but the suspect got into a Honda Accord with no plates parked in the road 100 meters away and fled in the direction of Bangkok.

Police radioed ahead but the suspect was gone.

Fingerprints were taken from the top in the gold shop and CCTV is being analysed in the store and on the suspect's escape route.

The cops believe he cased the joint so are looking back at 7 days of CCTV coverage to get a lead, reported Daily News.
