There is a specialist electrical supply shop on the road with the mosque, they will not have it in stock but if it is available they can order it.

Also do not even try to make a join on the section of cable that will be submerged as it will allow water into the pump. There is nothing that you can do to prevent that.

Agree with the above, you absolutely do NOT want to be making joints that will be under water. 

 

If you just want to extend the above ground section then 4 x 1mm2 VCT would be the stuff, likely special order only.

My pump cable was jointed 5 meters below ground (crimped with tape and heat shrink insulation) 16 years later I have had no problems. Its a 60 meter deep well so the join is not in water.

 

As electrician I would say if your pump is protected by a working RCD and MCB it wont be dangerous even if the joint is in water, the worst thing would be nuance tripping.

3M and maybe other brands have heat shrink self sealing splice kits which I believe can be used to extend the short tail provided on some submersible pumps. Quite possibly available in Thailand at specialist pump services. 

 

Thinking back I remember contractors making waterproof joints by injecting silicone sealant into heat shrink sleeve. This prevented any capillary action within the core.

If not actually in the water you should be fine.

 

How do you intend making the joint?

 

Crimping (with the correct tool) then adhesive-lined heatshrink over each core (I have some crimps which already have the heatshrink) followed by an overall adhesive-lined heatshrink (you'll need a proper heat-gun) will give you as good a joint as possible without specialist jointing kits.

I have used these 3m underwater splice kits from 3m in the US. They are very expensive but they are designed for underwater splicing. I don't know where you can buy one of these kits but if done properly they will last as long as the cable itself.

It is not water in the cable that is the problem but water in the cable that will migrate down into the pump. Having just had to strip down a pump that had this problem I can be absolutely sure that this is a, probably the, failure mode. In my case I was lucky that the water had only just got in liberal applications of WD-40 did the job it was designed for.

 

The reason for water migration is the heat cycling that the air in the pump goes through that helps along the capillary action.

I intend to do all that crossy said, and use the 3m epoxy kits as a final covering.I used them all the time back in Seattle where their is a lot of moisture [rain].I found the same 3m kits on lazada.But not for a 3way splice,3m 82-A1 kit 1054฿. Where do you find the adhesive lined heat shrink?

I got mine from AliExpress but Lazada has it too (shipped from China unfortunately), it may be available from your local electrical specialist outlet.

@jlm53The daughter of the owner speaks some English, take the pump with you if you can, they can then look to see if that cable is available, it could easily be made for the pump maker and not available but if so and the joint is above water level the crossy’s advice on 4 core cable is best.

 

it’s the shop that our extremely good, highly professional (PEA/EGAT) Electriction uses for his supplies.
