A petition launched to rescind the Golden Globe nominations for Sia‘s film Music has reached over 65,000 signatures.

The change.org petition calls the film “severely ableist” and says it “contributes to harmful stereotypes of autistic people”.

Nina Skov Jensen and Rosanna Katajia, who describe themselves as “autistic” and “autism ally” respectively, started the petition together.

They wrote in the official description: “Sia has claimed the movie is a ‘love letter to the autism community’, however, the music segments are filled with strobing lights, colours, loud sounds, and quick camera movements, which is very overstimulating.

Simple.  If you don't like it then don't watch it.

What’s the point of making a movie for autistic people when they can’t watch it because they either get an epileptic seizure or it physically is extremely uncomfortable for them to watch?!

That’s like making a movie for children that features hardcore sex scenes! It just doesn’t add up and your comment is ‘if you don’t like it don’t watch it?!’

Wow! Your mother must be so proud of you!

Strange.  I thought it was a movie about autistic people, not for autistic people.

As to your asinine comment about my mother; all I can say is that she reminds me so much of your mother.

It’s a “love letter” to autistic people. Obviously if you make a movie about them they’ll watch it!

So your mother has been dead since 1982 and converted to worm food then?
