Aerial photography posted on Facebook showed the latest developments in the continuing development of what will be known as Benjakitti Forest Park in Klong Toei in downtown Bangkok.

The area - on former land of the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly - has been hailed as a green lung for the people and a chance to improve the capital's notoriously bad drainage problems, reported Manager.

Stages two and three of the development are now underway on 259 rai of land at a cost of 652 million baht.

They follow the already finished area of a lake and adjoining park on 130 rai that connects to the east.

Stage 2 is set to be completed in time for the birthday of Her Majesty the former Queen Sirikit on August 12th 2021 - mother's day in Thailand.

Stage 3 is slated to run from July of this year to February 2022 when the park will be fully opened to the public.

Benjakiti Park. My favorite short early evening walk , 4 minutes from our hotel.

May be much improved with the added 'forest' ...  depending on how 'natural' it is (the Thai preference being always for the entirely manicured look).
