Daily News reported that Bangkok netizens were debating the quality of life in the Thai capital after an incident on Sri Nakharin outbound yesterday when a motorcyclist went into a drain.

Lt-Col Yingyot Chalatpru of the Hua Mark police was called to an area near the Lamsalee intersection where a Honda Wave 125 had half disappeared down a hole. The drain cover, the responsibility of the BMA, had been damaged.

Somneuk, aged about 35, was waiting for assistance. He only suffered a minor sprain thanks to being decently dressed and wearing a full face helmet.

Yingyot said that the area of the accident is where construction for the Orange and Yellow lines converges. There is damage to the road surface and buses and large trucks had damaged the drain cover in the night.

It had now been repaired with a new cover and some asphalt.

The train construction companies were in contact with the motorcyclist regarding compensation.

Somneuk said he had been riding in the early morning darkness and didn't see the trouble ahead.

Meanwhile Bangkok netizens commented on the story mentioning the quality of life in the city as the huge construction projects in many areas continue.

Drove thru that area yesterday and it is a real mess. The roadway is in deplorable condition. The construction has made travel on Srinakarin a nightmare.

I hope he  receive new helmet. Article says helmet save him from injury - good, but now helmet is finished.

Too bad Daily News not use it as opportunity to remind readers to replace helmet after crash.

Should have no fault insurance like in Quebec, Canada... where the Government has to cover damages and pay for any salary lost as long as the injuries persist...

I bet the helmet has some teeth marks on the inside...

Thai riders nearly always go around drains and metal sheets on the road, they've learnt to avoid the risk

And then old foreigners in Thailand keep telling that driving a bike is perfectly safe ????

Welcome to Thailand. Been over 20 years here. Have been driving my 600 cc in flip flops for 5 years. No problem at all. Get used to it!

Love the Pic of the "pointing" at the accused!

Hey You watch out for that hole!..Driver glares and replies "really"???

There are probably many similar holes in the road nearby. It is important to point out which particular hole is the dangerous one, in case other similar holes are wrongly implicated.....
