BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote social enterprises, aiming for concrete development and growth.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce has presided over the signing ceremony between 18 government agencies and private firms on the promotion of social enterprises.

The government says the MOU will help pursue its policy to promote social enterprises, and position social enterprises as an important player to address social and environmental issues.

The Office of Social Enterprise Promotion will be discussing with the 18 agencies the introduction of promotional activities to boost social enterprises, which still lack support in terms of funding, marketing, and technological skills development, as well as improving the design of products and services.

The government says one of its key policies is the promotion of social enterprises from the policy making level to the

operational level, in order to encourage their growth and sustainability.
