BANGKOK (NNT) - At a meeting of the Southern Border Provinces Development Commission, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, has expressed concern over the cycle of flooding and drought and ordered relevant units to develop plans to remedy the situation.

The commission heard a report on sustainable water management in the southern border provinces. Gen Prawit responded by instructing all relevant agencies and units to draw up water management plans for the region accounting for flooding, runoff and drought, pressing for concrete solutions.

The DPM also called for an urgent solution to the spread of a disease affecting rubber plants in the southernmost provinces, which has taken a major toll on the area and the revenue of its citizens.

In aid of Thai laborers who returned to the south due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gen Prawit ordered the Minister of Labor to take the lead in finding effective solutions to their plight, and for the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center to coordinate with the office on the matter.

Why just the south? Whilst they are in need of help, so is much of the rest of the country.

Looks like he has had a head transplant and not a grey hair in sight !  Still showing his incapability of not doing his job but ordering everyone else to do it for him. A fat useless toad !

Solution:  Hire a Dutch company with experience in the field.  Thailand has demonstrated that it has neither the expertise nor the ability to address these issues.

Draw up plans?  Yeah right.  The blind leading the blind.

Great timing to order this on the exact day the dry season starts.

Dry season where?
Dry season in Thailand southern border provinces started mid January, with February the driest month. Might see some rain from May onwards depending on the strength of the southwest monsoon. The main wet season comes with the northeast monsoon, October to December.

The problem is getting worse every year, for the first time last year we ran out of water from the well I had to install a tank so at least we could buy water and somewhere to put it, and the ground water is getting worse maybe over the last 5 years,

Surely this day and age every house should have running water we have an whole moo baan with only well water, city water is at the entrance to the moo baan I dont think Phuket has enough storage to supply everywhere

And then went back into hibernation until next year.

The Prayut government has been in place for almost seven years and still no solutions.

Other than regime change?

Why not just give it to the Chinese? They are experts in concrete and in water management. Just look at their success managing the Mekong.......
