Will have to set up a committee to look into that small problem.

Ah, but they'll need at committee to decide who should be on the committee, and another committee to decide on the scale of the committee's authority to decide who should be on the committee. 10 years later ...........

Anutin Charnvirakul, DPM and health minister, who favors 7 day area quarantine for  those foreigners who have received two doses of vaccine and ten days (not confined to hotel rooms) for those that haven't been jabbed.

30% less quarantine when being vaccinated probably cuts transmission risk by >95%. Way to go!

It is unwise to trash Thai Government Officials. The Forum could get sanctioned.

I suggest it would be unwise of you to visit this thread then.

American. First Pfizer stick yesterday. Second scheduled 1 April. Pfizer is 21 days between and Moderna is 28 days between. Effective protection kicks in at 14 days from first stick.

I'm glad to see proposals to reduce quarantine. I understand that removal of quarantine may be necessary to attract vacationers. I, however, am returning to family I've not seen in a year. In this scenario I've actually told the girlfriend I don't want her to meet me at the airport if she could. I want to be able to launder travel clothes and have a shower. I want to protect the family from any virus I might pick up in travel which will not effect me but may them as they are not vaccinated.

I support a reduced quarantine. I'd like to see 3-5 days. I'd like to see a reduction in the hospital cost component of those stays for vaccinated individuals. I'd like to see direct transit options  in country. For instance, family is in Chiang Rai province and there are 2 ALQ there but I'm not sure how to get there from an international flight.

I think its time to consider self quarantine. I would consider wearing a tracker short term or using an app.

Finally I feel like I've stepped up by getting vaccinated and I want to see elimination of the COVID specific insurance requirement.

a very small minority, only several%, of potential travellers are being vaccinated now.

The second dose is given after 2 weeks to 3 months.

Certificate of vaccination or "covid passport" will be given only after the second dose started to work, so another several weeks.

But, most important, thai vaccination program is only at 4k jabs a day. At this rate it would take many years to vaccinate medical and other essential services.

Many countries are putting now ban on travelling for it's citizens. If they leave country without good reason, they would be prosecuted on return.

Name me ONE country.

What a shame these are not held accountable for the tripe they spew. Someone in Thailand gives a true account although its a bad review on a hotel and restaurant and you are threatened with gaol. Politicians can (and consistently do) lie on a  daily basis to the public and nothing happens. Amazing.

The problem is that Austria and Germany have upgraded Thailand to risk level 5 resp. 6 and to get Covid insurance is a problem. Either not available or risk supplement 300% which works out 20€/day!

I assume I need cover for the duration of stay? Come on nonimm O single entry.

Looks like Pipat just spouted off before putting his brain in gear.

Did he not stop and think before stating first of april?

Surely anyone with even half a brain would never have said first of april, just makes it look like it was just a joke.

He was schooled in the class with 'ol fatty

Thai media Daily News continued to maintain that April 1st would be the date that Thailand begins its path to accepting foreign tourists again.

With no confirmation from the government this is just more hot-air from Pipat and his side-kicks.

He did in fact stop to think several years ago. The problem is that he never started again since.

They seem to forget that there are no commercial tourist flights from almost all countries and Thai Airways are grounded cos they are bankrupt. So how will tourists get to Thailand ??  Will have to set up a committee to look into that small problem.

Airlines will run flights if the demand is there which may happen if these plans work. I think Qatar Airways were running flights although I'm not sure if that's still the case.

According to the Thai Embassy in London foreigners who wish to go to Thailand can only fly with the following airlines.

- EVA Air

- Emirates*

- Etihad

- Qatar Airways*

- Singapore Airlines

- Lufthansa

- Austrian Airlines

- Swiss Air

- KLM

- Air France

- Cathay Pacific

*Only Emirates and Qatar Airways are currently allowed to fly direct to Phuket.

Plus Thai Airways if course.

Edit.

Just checked and Qatar have flights on their website. They may cancel them if there are no bookings but the flights are there.

Thailand Plans to Welcome Visitors Next Month

Welcome to Thailand.  Your Thai escort and personnel monitor will escort you to the buses that will take you to your incarceration locations.  Does everyone have on their monitors and tracking devices?  Good, good.  Please keep them on at all times and do not evade the system as you will be put into less accommodating confinement and then deported with extreme prejudice.  Enjoy your incarceration vacation.  We will be passing out Lanna-No-High cookies with an Anutin-brand hemp leaf once you reach your incarceration hotels. Free!  Sawatdee krup.
