PHUKET: Vachira Phuket Hospital Director Dr Chalermpong Sukontapon today (Mar 17) revealed that Vorasit ‘Pla Wan’ Issara, the 40-year-old owner of the upscale Sri Panwa resort who was injured when his car hit a power pole south of Phuket Town on Sunday night, has regained consciousness from a coma.

It is the first time that Dr Chalermpong or any officials have reported that Mr Vorasit was left comatose from injuries sustained in the accident.

At last report, on Monday, Dr Chalermpong told the press that Mr Vorasit’s condition had improved but that he remained under observation in the intensive-care unit (ICU) at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

At least two of the above, the others are yet to be confirmed.

At this stage, we believe that the environment of the scene [of the accident] plays a part, as it is a curve that is poorly lit. ..

If there's No excuse they Will find one .

What a Laugh.

I don't see a curve and there are a lot of lights - he did hit and damaged the very street light.

The road is very wide, well maintained - cut vegetation, rain ditch

Give the bloke a break, he only just came round, and woke up after a very good evening out, and probably has got a very bad headache. ????

How could they have tested him for drugs/alcohol if he was in a coma.......surely they need his permission to take blood samples?

according to reports, his blood was already checked within hours of accident, and the second check was also ordered by police. Probably standard procedure, for example to see, if some life sustaining medicines can be given without interaction with alcohol/drugs.

After time alcohol can't be detected anymore, is metabolised and removed within few h, depending how much it was over limit.

However, blood results were not revealed publicly.

Usually this info is disclosed at soonest, whether patient in coma or dead. Emergency services can see on the spot of driver was under influence by checking breath smell, dilated eye pupils
