Thailand's Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau have busted a half billion baht call center based scam selling bogus investments in fuel stocks.

It was "Operation Shutdown Petro Scam".

Investigations started at the end of November last year and continued for four months resulting in 15 arrests, Daily News reported.

Let's hope that will refund the people that lost money during a 4 month investigation

And how long has this scam been rolling along?

A great deal of thought went into the name of the investigation,

"Operation Shutdown Petro Scam" was chosen after they realised their first choice of

"operation lets catch some baddies" was being used by the RTP

Speaks volumes... would the Chinese be of the "wealthy variety" that Thailand wants?

Shouldn't it read "9 Thais and 6 other Asians arrested"? Time to distance myself from these other low lifes that appear to make up most of the busted scams here. Nothing to do with "farang", ie foreigners in the accepted sense.

I thought it probably was, but the article didn't seem to relate to petrol at all.

The article is about a fuel investment scam....

You are not correct

Actually he is. Gasoline is a petroleum based product if petroleum and gasoline are the same, then gasoline and Vaseline are the same and lng and gasoline are the same and bitumen and gasoline are the same. Ships run on HFO or they did and let me tell ya HFO is almost a solid its nothing like gasoline but it is  petroleum product.

Gasoline is produced by petroleum is not the same.

Some off topic posts and replies bickering about the definition of petrol/petroleum products have been removed.  As stated in the opening line in the OP, this topic is about bogus investments in fuel stocks:

Reads like the beginning of a good joke:

Nine Thais, four Chinese, a Singaporean, and a Malaysian went to a bar...
