Good news for expat golfers in Thailand.

The Tourism Authority has announced plans to organise a series of golf events aimed at the expatriate community.

The events will give a much needed boost to the golf sector in the country, which has been left blighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The events will be organised under the “Stay Play Safe” campaign, Siam Sport reported

“With the pandemic easing, the government has started to look at ways of reviving the industry from within, targeting the domestic market. Through collaboration with the Tourism and Sports Ministry, the Public Health Ministry and other sectors, the ‘Stay Play Safe’ campaign has been devised to not only create awareness of the ‘Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration: SHA’ hygienic standard certification, but also to help boost confidence among travelers and in turn revive the sector. A large number of players within the industry have been certified as SHA proprietors, said Minister of Tourism and Sports Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, who was speaking at the Minister Cup 2021, which took place at Alpine Golf Club in Pathum Thani on Sunday.

“The ministry has long recognised the importance of the expatriate community as a sector with high purchasing power and with this in mind, the Department of Tourism, TAT, the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) has come together to re-establish trust among the sector to help boost domestic tourism.”

An upcoming golf event to be hosted by TAT include the Minister Cup 2021 and the Amazing Thailand Expat Golf Tournament Series.

The Amazing Thailand Expat Golf Tournament Series 2021 will be held on June 4 2021 at Siam Country Club Old Course in Chonburi. The event will help to boost domestic travel among expats in Thailand, the minister said.

Well, so much for badminton players! ????

Isn't this the exact same scheme as last year with a different name. It didn't amount to anything then....

Rebrand, Recycle.

A farang herding and money stripping scheme.

Playing a round for Thb 3000.....geared up in a mask and likely a shield.....social distancing and finally get locked up in your hotel room without being allowed a beer! Yep....they'll be queueing up for this great initiative!
