A civil engineer representing Thawee Wattana district said that planning permission and regulations related to the building that collapsed there at the weekend were all followed.

Five people died including four rescue workers in the Phutthamonthon Sai 3 area west of Bangkok.

Narong Rakkhit said that planning permission and checks made during building of the property between 2010 and 2011 were all followed properly.

Extensions and adaptations made between 2011 and 2012 were also above board.

Investigations into the reason for the collapse of the building are ongoing, reported Sanook, as religious ceremonies for the dead continued at the disaster site.

I wasn't aware that such regulations existed here, I thought it was a case of do whatever you want, no one ever bothers asking or looking for plans or permission.
