Here are the provinces requiring travellers from Bangkok and other ‘high risk’ areas to quarantine

Following a spike in COVID-19 cases in Bangkok and neighbouring provinces, numerous provinces around Thailand have now issued restrictions on anyone travelling from areas deemed to be ‘high risk’.

So-called ‘high risk’ areas include: Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom.

While each province has its own rules and regulations for travellers, the Thai government has issued guidelines on which provinces are requiring travellers from high risk areas.

The information is correct at the time of posting.

Earlier, it had been reported that Korat required travellers from high risk areas to quarantine. But officials later cited this as a misunderstanding.

In Phuket, officials have said quarantine is not needed for arrivals from high risk areas.

In Surat Thani, quarantine is not required but people entering the province need to scan in the ‘Save Surat’ QR code.

If you do still plan to travel, the advice is to seek the latest information regarding your destination province before you begin your journey.

at this late date, just prior to songkran travelling, this will produce utter chaos; in line with the (in) competence of the current govt

  • People don't have to be quarantined forever - they just need to get the damned vaccine rollout going. No doubt I'll be accused of Thai bashing but it really sticks with me when I see the usual BS anno

It seems they are already relaxing the requirements.  Not surprising as they were unenforceable!

I think this whole idea of leaving it to the provincial governors to decide the measures is bombastic. So confusing that it never gets followed anyway.

But, but, but, I wanted to go to Hua Hin on the 19th from Bangkok, Oh well, guess I can not honor that hotel reservation, glad I did not have to pay for it until arrival through Booking.com.  Feel sorry for the businesses really, But just because I come from Bangkok does not mean I am infected, or will be since I am now self isolating after returning from Chiang Mai this morning.

For Hua Hin the quarantine only applies if you're coming from one of Bangkok's "districts with a high number of infected patients".  Apparently they will accept your word!

Thats magnanimous of them.

Why unenforceable?  During the last wave, you couldn't get onto Phuket.  It was blocked.  And the highways down there all had massive road blocks.  There were many.  Stopping all cars from out of the province, taking temps, and in some cases, turning you back.  We were there just after it opened up and saw the many highway checkpoints.

But they are right, it is a waste of time quarantining people forever.

Open all up, take it on the chin, life moves on.

Your probably hiding under your bed as you type  this ????????????????

People don't have to be quarantined forever - they just need to get the damned vaccine rollout going. No doubt I'll be accused of Thai bashing but it really sticks with me when I see the usual BS announcements about proposed Moon trips, high speed trains, land bridges, 'Neo Pattaya', etc. etc. when they don't seem to have any urgency over vaccines - which must be down to cash and an adversity to spending it on things that actually benefit the people.

Oh well, that's sorted then.

Yep, just have to figure out which districts near me that have not been hit hard.  If they look at my address and check a map they will see I am right in the middle of the areas and it's converging inwards....lol

Thats a jolly nice opinion but hard facts say that Thailand and this governement have done a great job controling the covid crisis.

and dont worry, the Thais can deal with this, there will no chaos. (or mask deniers, or anti mask protests, or fist fights at shops, airports, or other public spaces, so common in western countries where there is REAL CHAOS.)

A complete mess up. Was hoping to holiday in Thailand next year but appears this will now be impossible

All the Songkran travellers from all over Thailand will quarantine in large family groups with members from disparate parts of the Kingdom.  The problems will occur two weeks after they get back to their starting point and mix with those who didn't travel.

I dont see the point in coming to Phuket especially if you like a drink, maybe the hotel you are staying will serve you a drink I dont know, I drove through Rawai yesterday afternoon about 5 pm and along the beach road, all closed.

We went to Homepro around 7-30 pm nobody empty I thought we were on curfew again

This is what "take it on the chin" means for some.

I'm just wondering what happens if you want to travel to another province on the high risk list.

For example, I live in Nonthaburi and want to travel with my wife to her family home in Pathum Thani (way out in the sticks though, only about 5 houses spread over about 1 kilometre).

It isn't very clear if we will be able to or not.

It will be a complete waste of time but I'm just waiting for next weeks announcments:

7 day Quarantine and Area Qurantine cancelled. Looks like the wife will be coming to the UK again.

this is a rubbish time to travel, why even bother?

especially over the songrakn period it will just be loads of loud locals getting drunk with their families till 4am.

I'd rather stay at home.

Nobody's gonna quarantine...NOBODY. Enuff Z'Nuff. Time to stop the madness and extreme overreactions.

True but the ridiculous restrictions are likely to put some people off travelling altogether.  It's all political posturing!

Political posturing?  Come on.  More like trying to save lives and stop the spread of this deadly virus.

The key words are now " area " and not " countries "?  I never travel this time of the year anyway if I did the choice I guess would be death by the virus or death by road accident. ????

If that was true they could take far more effective action than they have, although the national government would most likely have to be involved.  When someone posts examples of people being forcibly made to quarantine, or turned away from a provincial village/town/city, I might believe that it's not just a political gesture.

No argument they are not doing a great job here with regards to the vaccine.  But as far as the virus goes, they've done pretty good.  Few deaths, hospitals aren't over loaded, etc.  Congrats to Thailand for not being like the West or Brazil.

You might not believe it, but there is a group of medical experts advising the government on what to do.  The mouth piece, sadly, are people like Anutin.

I do remember being not allowed into downtown Pattaya last year.  Forcibly.  Was that political posturing?
