How about considering resigning and let someone who knows what to do run the country?

Do you think they could find someone?

Did that last week.  Good for 2 months.  3 months if I can ration it ????

Oh! The desperation.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away.

Now it looks as if there here to stay.

Oh, I believe in yesterday

I think this government is realizing they are caught in a dream and it matches up with this songs lyrics:

It’s beautiful, it’s bittersweet
You’re like a broken home to me Covid
I take a shot of memories
And black out like an empty street
I fill my days with the way you spread
And fill my nights with broken dreams
I make up lies inside my head
Like one day you’ll come back and infect me

Now I’m not holding on, not holding on
I’m just depressed that you’re not gone
Not holding on, not holding on

Beautiful mistakes, I make inside my head
Now the Virus is in my bed
And now I lie awake, still makin’ beautiful mistakes
I wouldn’t take ‘еm back
I’m in love with the past
And now I liе awake, makin’ beautiful mistakes

Som Nam Na, in my head
Som Nam Na, in my bed
Som Nam Na

Sad but true. Bureaucracy first, safety second.  Government stupidity knows no limits.

That's what happens when you live in a country ruled by an unelected "PM" and tinpot soldiers with

a military academy education.

Seems to me they are just about to propagate a mass road death program by the public now rushing at 200kph to get back home before they can't and undo any 'good' they may have done with road deaths in Songkran in the first few days

What good would that be?

Is anyone in government weighing up the continued economic damage against the cost of getting some vaccines distributed, even if its the ineffective sinovac?

Submarines, moon rockets, a space programme??

Pfizer CEO says third Covid vaccine dose likely needed within 12 months

Learning as we go, and it makes perfect sense that an annual booster might be needed just like the flu vaccine until this Covid is reduced to nothing but a memory, but then I wouldn't bet on that occurring.  It will be with us for a longtime so we need to find a middle ground.

Grim view of global future offered in intelligence report

U.S. intelligence officials are painting a dark picture of the world’s future, writing in a report released Thursday that the coronavirus pandemic has deepened economic inequality, strained government resources and fanned nationalist sentiments.

How about getting a vaccine program started, instead of killing off business, also Thailand can't allow any tourists in until everyone here has been vaccinated to prevent serious illness.

To all the people who were convinced Thailand was uniquely capable globally of containing the virus, what has happened? Why can't they rely on whatever mystical magic they relied on the in the early stages? Have they run out of the proper color Amulets?

Blame the unelected "PM" for allowing all these Burmese illegal workers in to Thailand. Then you have the situation regarding "government" officials and certain Bangkok night clubs.

Let's not forget the illegal border crossings in Chiang Mai last year into Laos to/from the casinos.  Kinda similar to what started this wave.  In the end, pretty much all 3 waves were due to corruption.

But your not in the UK or US it is Thailand and they do have their own way of treating Covid be it symptomatic or asymptomatic barbaric as it may be.

Rather pointless comment....I know where I am......and I know this is the way Thais are handling it..........your comment is tantamount to saying the conflict in Myanmar is 'okay', because that is the way they do it............ enforcing quarantine in a state run facility should be of concern to everyone.........regardless of where it is taking place.

You think so?  Ask the Philippines how their 1 year lockdown has worked for them.

How might things have been with no lockdown?

They almost had it under control here, & getting ready to re-open to foreign tourists, then WHAM! all goes pear shaped over Songkran.  It's almost as if those in charge wanted this to happen.

They did, but I suspect certain connected peoples bank accounts did not go up as far as they expected.

Are you comparing the UK’s response to Kovic 19 with 127,000 dead to Thailand response with 97 deaths

Good point, but the UK have much more obesity, a much more older generation, and people with drink problems than Thailand.

You can not just blame the PM for the Burmese bringing the virus into Thailand.  Do you not remember the Pretties that set off the issue in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai prior to the Samut Sakhon debacle.  Thais started the issue so get that right at least and then Thai's perpetuated it by sneaking in the illegal workers.

....and subsequent responses......SAGE lockdown Sept 21st....nope.......don't launch "Eat out to help spread it about".....don't have a "merry covid Christmas".......

My point is far from pointless.  Other countries have tried the self isolation and it did not work for them, Thailand does it the way I stated and it did seem to work in the overall scheme of things so at least get that right.  No where do I say anything about the conflict in Myanmar being okay.  You always seem to add in a Gaslight comment instead of just addressing the issue.  Go gaslight someone else.
