If they stay closed what is a person to do?

Go back to Myanmar before their passport expires. They don't have any right to just stay here because they want to.

Or go to the embassy in Thailand before it closed for a few days.

They should be back there helping their brothers and sisters, helping their country.    Not illegally cowering away in a foreign land.

So when your passport expires you'll need to leave as well then.

shut ... embassies in all countries.

In Thailand only between 27th April and 9th May according to the OP.

Myanmar is in a state of chaos now so Thailand should be more lenient towards them.
