Mrs Chelseafan is now in Bangkok after spending some time with me in London. She is currently in quarantine for 14 days.

She is due to finish on 23rd May and travel to her home in Nakorn Ratchisima. Her local Amphur has told her that as Bangkok is in the red zone, she needs to stay in her home for another 14 days when she finishes her current jail time. Surely this can't be right ?

p.s. Ironically her father is travelling from Nakorn to Bangkok to pick her up but he doesn't have to do the quarantine....

Most places will let you avoid local quarantine if you leave 14 quarantine and travel directly to your final destination.

If her local official still insists on another quarantine, I would have her attempt to contact someone higher up at the province level and see if there is a province wide policy for her situation.

I'll ask the missus to contact them, not expecting much though..

Don’t ask a question you don’t want an answer to !!!

I know those who have left ASQ receive a ‘release letter’ indicating that they have just carried out their quarantine. This ‘should’ be enough not to have to worry about local quarantine, surely enough to avoid any fines etc if someone were to come knocking etc.

Personally, I wouldn’t tell anyone and I wouldn’t worry about it.

The Mrs certainly wouldn’t be compromising any moral standard by not undergoing a further quarantine in her province and I don’t see how anyone would know if you don’t tell anyone else.

It's not right. there is (or at least was) a way around this.

Is she staying in ASQ or state quarantine? That might make a difference.

I know of someone who entered the country and was escorted via a flight with an official to Udon Thani who then made sure there was no additional quarantine.

I don't know this person directly but it's a friend of a friend and it happened last year.

So there was a procedure in place last year to ensure a double quarantine wasn't necessary - now this guy had plenty of money and I think he was on the TE visa plus ASQ as well, and I'm hearing it wasn't a normal flight from Bangkok, he may have chartered a plane but I'm not entirely clear on that.

I know nothing more about this situation than the above except that it definitely happened.
