So if i understand correctly someone non vaccinated coming to Phuket for

a 1 week holiday need to self quarantine for 14 days on the island?

How does it work exactly?

It seems the authorities here are more and more confused days after days

and we are supposed to be at J-40 days of the famous opening of the ''sandbox model''

what could possibly going wrong ?

Why would someone come if they only have a week for a holiday...they're pretty daft if they do...and it's not just for holiday makers. Some people live on Phuket or can stay for months so this can work for them.

From your OP post:

''Non-vaccinated and non-Covid tested domestic travelers can enter by land and self quarantine at home''

if i understand your explanation it should be more clear to write:

Non-vaccinated and non-Covid tested Phuket residents can do domestic travels then they can re enter by land and self quarantine at home

or i am still missing something ?

Also you writed in your answer i quoted here:

''Some people live on Phuket or can stay for months so this can work for them.''

if you live in an hotel or an other rented place for few weeks or

few months, is it still considered as being your ''home'' by the authorities?

Who is in charge to control the selfquarantine and how it works?

They can come to your house at any moment to be sure you  are here?

What happens if you are not? Going to the market to buy food or whatever? Few people live alone and they have to go outside for some basics resuplies, are a fine of 40 000 bahts and being deported on the menu if you are a foreigner?

I am not really concerned as i stay as far as possible from Phuket, but for me all of this is clear as mud, as usual

Yes, my sentiments exactly.

2 Men just returned from a 2 day Big bike trip frim Bangkok/Phuket.

No checks.... no temps, no tests....

RTA just waved them on through asking if they had masks.

So much for accurate and time sensitive reporting....

We finally know what the famous ''sand box'' will be used for:

the authorities can burry their head in it !

Breaking (maybe)

Phuket sandbox now converted into "come and have a great holiday at our 5* Phuket airport"

When arriving via land border without vaccination or test indeed a 14 day home quarantine is required.

Health officials can check your house at any time to check if you are at home.

A friend of my did this in another province and she had indeed a few checks to see if she was at home.

So far I know this only works via land borders and all air travellers need the vaccine or test or they will be denied boarding.
