This doesn't surprise me.

A ruling party MP for Bangkok said opportunists are systematically selling vaccine queueing cards to locals and foreigners on the black market. Koranit said she doesn’t know who is behind this illegal operation and asked for journalist to investigate. #วัคซีนโควิด #วัคซีนโควิด19

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is expected to administer the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to up to eight million people in Bangkok over the next two or three months, as more non-hospital vaccination centers open daily.

Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang said, during a visit to the latest of these clinics at Central Plaza Pinklao Department Store, that the BMA is on course to meet the target of having 25 non-hospital vaccination centers set up across the capital by June 2nd.

Eight more cases of Covid-19 South African variant were found in Narathiwat’s Tak Bai cluster. They are possibly linked to the first three cases reported yesterday, said the director-general of the Department of Medical Sciences.

Prayuth is in sole charge of all thing covid and you say he "probably" knows more than us about infection control and that perhaps he doesn't know more than us and now he is vaccinating hospitality workers and taxi drivers before trying to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of elderly and vulnerable people whilst in the midst of the worst pandemic in 100 years just to make a few bucks. Is this the sort of thing you agree with and support?

This cluster initially identified 80+ positive cases and many others at high risk so one would assume they are all carry the SA variant, it just depends how many they actually sequence?

Daily numbers but they are families lives, shattered and we see the inexcusable actions of letting the UK variant run rampant throughout the provinces by allowing Songkran travel and not locking down Bangkok. So many of these deaths would have been reduced.

It seems they care as little as they do for Thailand's road deaths

I agree that the government doesn't seem to care about the deaths of its citizens, although with such a low level of Covid deaths in Thailand, you must consider the actions of governments in the US, UK and most of Europe to be far more inexcusable!

The road deaths in the countries you mentioned are very low.

The covid deaths reflect a situation that was very new to all of them. Thailand had plenty of time to prepare and learn from those experiences and the new UK variant but failed to do so

I think 3 is enough for now, as that's a number they can control(like all the other numbers they control), we might find out about the other 77 in about 6 weeks time when it won't seem so bad compared to what's happening by then.

Unemployment rises to pandemic high

Thailand’s unemployment in the first quarter rose to around 760,000, or 1.96 per cent, the highest since the pandemic started, the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) reported Monday.

The unemployment rate rose again after a small recovery in the second half of 2020, reflecting prolonged Covid-19 impact, said NESDC secretary-general Danucha Pichayanan.

In 2020, the proportion of jobless jumped to 1.95 per cent in the second quarter when the full lockdown was imposed nationwide, before slipping back to 1.86 per cent in the fourth quarter.

Concern for real estate industry as COVID-19 spreads among construction workers

The Thai Real Estate Association and related agencies are discussing ways to control the spread of COVID-19 among construction workers, amidst rising concerns that it could delay construction of many buildings, which will lead to an increased contraction of the real estate sector.

Thailand’s real estate construction is worth an average of 1 trillion baht each year. Therefore, the COVID-19 pandemic, which has put most construction work on hold, will eventually further contribute to the country’s economic slowdown, said Patai Padungtin, CEO of the Builk One Group.

Mr. Patai feels that the government should help small contractors to verify information on their construction workers’ whereabouts, using the Thai Chana app, while contractors should reduce the number of workers on site

A new cluster found in 3 nursing homes in Bang Khae was reported earlier today.

New clusters found in care homes, garment factory

A new cluster was found in a group of three nursing homes in Bang Khae, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Monday.

Another cluster was also found at a garment factory in Thung Khru district, bringing the total number of active clusters in Bangkok to 32.

“Elderly people are one of the most vulnerable groups because they have a higher chance to become severely ill or die from the infection,” said Dr Apisamai Srirangsan, the CCSA’s deputy spokeswoman.

Two things:

1. When I add up all the scheduled deliveries shown in the graphic, I get a total of 58.3 million doses, which is 3 million short of the 61.3 million total given in the graphic.

2. The 10 million AstraZenica doses between July to November is the total scheduled doses. So 10 million doses divided between 5 months, or 2 million doses per month for each of the months. Not 10 million doses each month.

How is the government going to reach its 70 per cent target with 2 million doses per month?

At a meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, a plan to divide 35 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine was given approval. They are first to be distributed as a first doses between June and September, before second doses are provided from October to December.

During the June to September period, vaccination will focus on areas with outbreaks and Dark Red zones, including the provinces of Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi and Pathumthani, as well as destinations popular among tourists such as Phuket.

17 provinces along the borders have also been prioritized and will receive vaccinations by July. They are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Songkla, Sa Kaeo, Tak, Mukdaharn, Narathiwat, Ranong, Nong Khai, Surat Thani, Phang Nga, Krabi, Chantaburi, Chonburi, Rayong, Cha Choeng Sao and Samut Sakhon. After people in these targeted areas are vaccinated, the focus will shift to the nation's other 55 provinces.

I'm guessing the hoped for Moderna vaccines are not included/listed in the above plan because those would be coming via the private sector hospitals as opposed to the government's vaccination program.  Although, the Johnson and Johnson vaccines listed above also have never been mentioned as being part of the government's own vaccination program.

2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine to be given 16 weeks after 1st dose, not 10

The Thai Ministry of Public Health has adjusted the timing for the administration of the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine, from 10 weeks after the initial injection to 16 weeks, so that the supply of vaccines can be distributed more widely, said Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Kiatiphum Wongrajit today (Monday).

The announcement followed questions raised after several hospitals have postponed the appointment for the second jab.

Stressing the need for wider distribution of vaccines to members of the public, to reflect the changing situation, Dr. Kiatiphum said that those who receive the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine in June will receive the second dose in October.

So a 4 month gap between the first jab and then the second which would assure maximum efficacy of whatever percent the initial studies showed.  Nice.  Give me half a tank of fuel in my booster rockets and let me fly the rocket to the moon on fumes.....

A new Covid-cluster has been reported at a Sino-Thai construction worker camp. Most of the 519 infected workers were involved in construction at the parliament building. Public Health Minister Anutin has close ties to the Sino-Thai company.

On the first issue of the "missing" 3 million doses in their tally sheet, it could be because they're also counting the doses that have already been allocated prior to June???

Screenshot_12.jpg.a00993b7dae40f8594055c5e1fbd601f.jpg

Note that their graphics talk about their vaccination plan for the second half of the year... So presumably it's not counting those done in the first half of the year.

But more broadly, AFAIK, their supposed goal is to get 70% of the population or 50 million people fully vaccinated. That would require 100 million doses of the two dose vaccines, but they're counting on 10 million single shot J&J vaccines, so that would reduce the needed total to 90 million, if I'm doing the math right.

And thus far, they've only planned up for 61+ million... though those 5 million supposed Moderna doses are out there in the planning wind somewhere and not at all reflected on their charts for unknown reasons.

So it would seem there's still some gaps remaining to be filled.

Hospitals postpone Covid jabs amid delays in domestic AstraZeneca production

Some hospitals were being forced to postpone second rounds of Covid-19 inoculations as Siam Bioscience was falling behind in its scheduled production of the AstraZeneca vaccine, a news report said Monday.

Public hospitals such as Vajira, Chulabhorn, and Thammasat announced that they were short of vaccine stock over the weekend and will thus be delaying their scheduled shots, The Standard reported.

The report did not give details on the shortfall. Representatives of Siam Bioscience were not available for comment.
