I have a 1993 Toyota Corolla. One rear door will not open unless I forcibly pull the locking knob up while operating the external door latch. The child lock operating knob has broken inside, so I don't know whether the child lock is on or off. Is there some way of knowing, and how to operate it without the knob to disengage it if that is the problem.  The aperture for the Childproof lock is inside the hole below the finger in the picture. Maybe corrosion isn't helping. Any tips gratefully received. The obvious one is to take it to the garage, which I want to avoid.1078899207_UntitledChildslock.thumb.png.1e35a621c60b33a66fab5853a3da4dd4.png

it sounds logical; that it seems most likely the 'Child Lock' IS in the Lock position, and that the External Door Handle  would be the only handle able to Open that door...

your photo definitely is pointing at the problem for you the user

Child Lock actuator itself needs attention/repair...

Your problem would no doubt be replicated word for in the Car Operators Manual Chapter regarding Operation of Doors and Locks

If you can't do it yourself a repair  body shop or a shop that changes broken car windows could help you out.

yes that NASA invention always works...

- although the  alternative Russian way would be simpler, and work it out with a pencil.

heh heh in other words - graphite powder

Reminded me of the space race.

NASA apparently spent 10's of 1000's of dollars making a pen which would write in zero gravity.

The Russians used a pencil.
