Does this mean 7 days for 7 $, even 30 days for 30$?

Yes - it may lead to some temporary address changes for expats and other long term tourists - if nothing else .... ????

I read many stories about the quarantine..

This is the latest " From 1 July, 2021, vaccinated foreign tourists will be allowed to visit Phuket without quarantine".. this is not the government position yet.

The next question ..for long you need to stay in Phuket before going upcountry without quarantine?

Phuket is not the only destination for tourists.. But it is Thailand. I am sure that they need to come up with some official ruling.

55555 punishable by deportation you realize. Social gatherings are strictly prohibited and the definition of social gathering is “farang and alcohol in close proximity”.

Utter nonsense.

Wonder how they feel about foreigners who have not left the country in the past 2 years and have tested negative in the past week ?

That's right. It is called social distancing. It is one of the measures taken to stop the covid pandemic recommended by virologists.

It is very effective.

Of course. I understand that and agree with it.

Maybe you do t understand  that tourists night not want to go on holiday to Phuket if they can't socialise? ????

It is aimed at couples and to a lesser extent families.

Last thing we want is the drunk monger crowd who are too hard to control when drunk and often make bad decisions.

A soft reopening is a sensible solution, see how it goes, iron out any issues and then expand it.

You have to remember that they planned this before the deadly third UK Alpha B117 strain third wave got out of hand so they have had to par it back as a result.

I wish them the best of luck, it won't be easy.

Hmmmm....

Seems like you dont know that you can still get the virus even if you are vaccinated against it.

So no, not problem solved at all.  You get the virus, test positive and are locked up in a Covid 19 camp....which you have to pay for.....

How many are you talking about - maybe a dozen or two ? I don't think the Thai government bases their policy on your possible circumstances.....

Why don't you just get a free one like most normal people do?

Hundreds of thousands of cute single women in Thailand.

I like to pay them for leaving

It has been years since I went to Phuket. When I did I stayed at Friendship Bungalows at Kata Beach. 15 dollars

Canadian for AC and 10 dollars for fan rooms. Sadly the place is gone and the last time I stayed near Karen Beach

for 1200 baht per night, about 6 years ago.  So no the scheme is 1 night free and the rest at a regular rate. Good deal if you are only there

for a week, less so if you are there for a month. I wonder just how many places will be open for business and how many are

closed for good. I do imagine that the businesses in Phuket City are okay, and some of the rich resorts may be getting ready

to reopen, but I will bet that a lot of places are still shut tight, at least until October.  I personally will wait until November before

I even consider getting a ticket to anywhere in Thailand.

Geezer

You always use to get a break on the price if you told them you were renting for a month, as you received a monthly rate at most places instead of the nightly rate.  However, you needed to negotiate this with the management.  Smaller bungalow style places up in Chalong near all of the Muay Thai training centers also rented you a motorbike with the room.

One night in Phuket , why not ?

Do we have a link available where you can book $1  rooms?

Surely the posters that keep asking this question really don't think they

will get 1 room for 1 night for $1  ??

You dont think It would come with conditions?

Id say something along the lines:

if normally a $300 room..

* minimum of 3 nights stay.

-Pay $1 for the first night

-Next 2 nights cost you $450 per night.

Therefor, you actually get ripped off for the $1

????????

As of June 1, vaccinated individuals can go to Phuket without quarantine or need for a PCR test. And hotel rooms are cheap.

so, yeah, I might give it a try, even before July 1.

Flights BKK-HKT are 1000 baht.

I would like to try 1 dollar per night quarantine, then you might see a few tourists and expats return and spend a Baht or two.

It is my understanding that only those travelers who fly DIRECTLY from another country to PHUKET are allowed.  You are not allowed to transit through BKK.

If you are in Thailand now, weren't you always able to fly to Phuket??

UPDATE:  There is an update posted on another thread that says transit through BKK will now be allowed!!  Richard Barrow is the source.

ALSO:

Quote

There is a national rule to close all pubs and bars. Phuket won’t be allowed to be an exception to this rule.

Concerning domestic flights to Phuket, the rules have changed a few times over the last months. The current rules allow vaccinated individuals to fly to Phuket without quarantine or PCR test.
