a. don't ridiculously look too much out of place

b. has music so to pass the time when he ran out of things to say, (in thai)

c. not too far from Sukhumvit aria

d. decent food and prices even though she is going to order fried rice anyway,

Tawan Daeng is not too bad... Thai music, fairly good food, and palatable beer brewed in house. Book a table early if you go at the weekend.

Good View restaurant on Rama 3. Its quite far down Rama 3 but its a nice place, seafood by the river always goes down well with my better half, the band is surprisingly good (healthy mix of Western and Thai songs) and it will not break the bank.

Yeah, but be careful not to confuse with Tawan Daeng Issan, which actually is a very fun Morlam Sing live music place, and if she's from Issan, she knows and probably loves it already. If not from Issan, she won't go there most likely.

Foodland in store restaurant, Sukhumvit Soi 5, good food, cheap prices - wear his and her walkman for music. You won't look out of place there.!

The Log Cabin, Thong Lor Soi 18 works for me!
