hmm, can't see how this will work at all !! How will quarantining for only 3 days protect the double vaccinated from the infected Thais? They should be quarantined for their entire stay and then do 14 days quarantine upon returning to their own country. We certainly do not want any more variants in the UK, thank you very much ????

but we are told that if vaccinated, everything is good and cannot catch it, yes , no ?

and if tested home and here, why do you think they will bring it with them ? or even take it back with them

Foreign tourists will have to quarantine for the first three days in August's "Pattaya Move On" plan

Texas and Florida offer better places to vacation right now.

Look at Pattaya, read the requirements and restrictions, and then Move On to Mexico, or Brazil, or even a US state with beaches like Florida, North Carolina, or Texas.
Take one look at Thailand's repressive New Normal tourism locales and schemes -- and keep Moving On.....

3 days quarantine? Seems like means to get some $$ to quarantine hotels. Not long enough to determine if people have covid.

"Of course, only those who had had two vaccine doses would be allowed into the country at all."

J&J is one dose... do these geniuses not know that?

And a bit back to the General

They're getting like a dog chasing its tail with this now ..

Folk will not fly 000's of kms to be treated like a battery hen .. they really are not absorbing this one are they .. factor in onerous conditions imposed on visitors on return to their home countries and it's not gonna happen .. the only thing achieved by continuing with these daft ideas is to underline how detached from reality they really are ..

May be for Chinese groups only

I've long known that common sense is entirely absent in Thailand. In 25+ years here I've never seen any sign of it. So maybe I shouldn't be surprised to see that, of all the pictures of Pattaya that the Bangkok Business News could have chosen, they picked one of a 'tourist' pointing at an illegal and derelict tower block eyesore. Brilliant.

Who are the beneficiaries of Thailand Tours New Normal Edition?
Distributors of PCR tests, Health insurance providers, private hospitals (if someone by chance pops positive on a PCR), and high-priced hotels with ASQ ratings and any pricey establishments or operators with an SHA rating, and of course a new niche for Tourism Security Guards to monitor and corral tourists within the limits of their leashes and to make sure that all tourists are muzzled and well-behaved!

Who doesn't benefit?
The people and business who used to during Old Normal.

Pure heaven awaits all of you PAXs.

(I have no idea what a PAX is but Phuket expect PAXs to arrive in the thousands and bring millions of Baht per the linked article).

Or?

Take Pattaya's lead and tell potential tourists to Move On...

Move on and vacation in non-lock-down countries with no Covid restriction like Mexico, Dominican Republic, Brazil, and even head for the beachs in some US states like Florida - and actually enjoy a vacation!  And even have a beer or wine!

So is the 14 day quarantine dropped? You can’t have one place say’3 days and the country says 14 days? The visitor allowed to go anywhere after 3 days? Flat out ain’t going to happen...

who is running the show? Entry requirements need to be uniformed...

why can't they make life easier

1.  tourist not fully vaccinated ( JJ or others) are not allowed into Thailand

2. full vaccinate tourists can come in with no quarantine but must show a negative covid19 test- that is it

It has nothing to o how and when the Thai people are vaccinated. It is an issue with the program.. Unless the government does not trust the vaccine.

Vaccinated people have been around others who are not vaccinated and may be infected with the virus.

I think that TAT is shooting themselves in their foot by forcing a quarantine while opening up the country to provide revenue for the5 star hotels..

The sad news that they do not know it......NOBODY!!!!NOBODY  will visit Thailand as long as they have the quarantine.

I don't think Florida is a summer choice for anybody. Try booking a room in Cape Cod between now and Labor Day  or Martha's Vineyard. Better beaches and much more comfortable weather. Beaches are better in summer in many US states than Florida. Same goes for Greece.

Pattaya will never be the same again, most of businesses will never reopen again, Pattaya as we like will only stay in our memories, sad but true.

Same same as everywhere else in the world. Covid has killed everything in more ways than one!

I am so confused. Phuket has changed its quarantine from 14 days to 7 days - back to 14 days. Samui is not sure yet. And Pattaya is promising just 3 days.

If Pattaya is 3 days, why can't Samui and Phuket be the same????????

Phuket is not a hotel quarantine as it was previously. It was 14 day hotel quarantine to 7 day island quarantine to 14 day island quarantine.

3 days is a proposal by Pattaya!

<deleted> to that, vaccinations do nothing, at best they only protect the vaccinated, at worse they increase transmission, plus vaccines are dangerous. So <deleted> to Thailand, a couple of years it will bust just like Myanmar.

Does anyone believe any of this ??????

Phuket Sandbox - Opening up the island for 7 days....  turned into 14 days, 3 Covid tests, can’t leave the area.

This is nothing more than the Chonburi Tourism board making announcements and attempting to influence the CCSA....

.... it is nothing more than hot air.

That said - Thailand could easily go to a 3 day ASQ nationwide on a two tiered entry system:

1) Vaccinated individual: Pre-Flight Covid-19 RT PCR test. 2-3 day ASQ, PCR test on arrival at ASQ.

2) Unvaccinated individual: Pre-Flight Covid-19 RT PCR test. 10 day ASQ (2 PCR tests in quarantine).

Can't we wait to see how this pans out in the rest of the world, please? #1 Should have a PCR test before being released into the tame (used to be wild).

Hundred of million jabs given already. Highly vaccinated countries have seen a tremendous drop in cases with minimal deaths.  Thailand is slacking off and waiting too long.

Last year, when Thailand had very low infection rates compared to the source countries of foreigners coming in, and no one was vaccinated, the quarantine policy made perfect sense. Now with Europe, North America and some other countries in Asia with lower rates, and with only fully vaccinated people allowed in, it is starting to look like  a pointless hurdle to getting what’s left of Thailand’s tourism industry back on track.

Just let vaccinated people from low risk countries in, they’re bound to be far safer the the average unvaccinated Thai.

At last. The first person with an iota of common sense. This is probably never going to go away so we have to learn to live with it.  There will no doubt be a constant stream of variants and we can't keep stopping the world turning each time one appears.

Or maybe the human immune system steps up to the plate and does what its been doing since the dawn of man?
"But only vaccines will save us all!!!"
Utter tosh!

Now I'm not a betting man but I think it's fair to say that in the 1st month of operation Thailand as a whole will be lucky to see 40k visitors & most will be expats coming back to their wives & families, who in their right mind would come to a country that's closed for business. Go to North Korea, much more fun ???????????????????? ????

Even a 3 days quarantine is too much.
There are still people from BKK coming to pattaya, and you have 1000x more chance to catch the covid with that population rather than vaccinated + tested tourists

Yes indeed. And so the tourist will then take infection back to where they came from.

Are you going to go to Thailand (or anywhere) where the local corrupt cops can decide themselves whether to hit you up for 1000 baht or up to 20000 baht, nearly £500, if you don't wear a face nappy ?

Are you going to spend a holiday in a face nappy ?

Are you going to do any ASQ really ?

Are you going to be told when and where you can go ?

Are you going to go if nothing is open ?

The answer to all is no, we do not waste £1000s to fly around the world to be treated like lepers. If you think we are a risk, then ban us. Simple.

No
No
Not even for one second, never!
No

No

No honey, no money.

I bet they can't wait to sample the nightlife. Here's a taster of what they can look forward to.

Silent streets in Pattaya overnight, with the tourist city under a lockdown order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, after 144 new infections were reported there. (Photo: Chaiyot Pupattanapong)

How about you stop insulting peoples intelligence and post a more accurate picture of a relevant area.  This street could have easily looked like this that this time of night pre-covid.

This appears to be 3rd rd.  Far away from the entertainment areas.

Perhaps you should use some of what you are talking about and check your facts first before attempting to call people out, as this  is second road. Simple to check the restaurant out to establish exactly where the photo was taken, just takes a bit of common sense.

It just all seems a bit cart before the horse to me. All these schemes springing up to open here and there, but no cohesive countrywide plan to go from point A, to point B, to point C. Every man and his dog seems to want to jump to point Z straight away.

The only path is through 80% vaccination of the population......and in view of that apparently failing and flailing, we get distractions.
