Chonburi-The Chonburi Governor, Phakkhrathon Thianchai, ordered the closure of three locations this evening, June 20th, 2021, to control the spread of Covid-19.

These closures come after the province announced 175 new cases of the virus today, the highest since a recent round of outbreaks in Chonburi began in April. Click here to read more about that.

The new locations ordered closed tonight are:

1. The Standard Construction Workers Camp Performance Co. Ltd (SPC) located at Moo 3 in the Khao Khan Song sub-district in Si Racha until the 27th of June. The order prohibits anyone from exiting or entering the area unless they have permission from Chonburi communicable disease control officers.

Sounds like the October Chon Buri beer fest could be in trouble unless we lock all these troublesome migrant workers up !

Ouch. Lockdown in one of those metal shack construction worker's camps would be brutal...especially when they are full of sick people. These are mostly non-Thai workers from Myanmar, Lao, and Cambodia that don't get treated so great to begin with.  I hope there is some humanitarian aid from the government to go with these lockdown orders.

Yeah... free security at the gates.

Get their employees to pay for and move all migrant workers into quarantine hotels, and pay a living wage. They will soon resort to Thai employees again and close these Wuflu hotspots for good.

The Thai Government's mismanagement of Covid, along with it's repercussions, is giving me a new appreciation of Western bureaucratic(albeit annoying - at times) efficiency.

Only the desperate would  work  (hard labour)  in dangerous conditions brutal heat and sun with little or no safety precautions for 300 or less baht per day.

I'm not sure any Western government has managed Covid efficiently! Maybe Sweden? Even Australia and New Zealand are coming in for criticism now. At least Thailand hasn't handled it as badly as USA!

You would have thought that the dummies in charge here would have taken a leaf out of various countries books in dealing with this pandemic ie get as many effective vaccinations into people as quickly and efficiently as you can ( without creating the super spreader events that we see almost everyday ) but no, they sat on their collective hands and did sweet fanny adam's until they realised that their super dooper new facility was failing them and then it was all hands to the pumps to try and stop the country from sinking.

A massive collective fail.

They didn't want to spend the money, which ultimately will cost Thailand more money in the long term.

They would when the alternative is $3 a day in their own countries.

Hopefully not  but T.i.T  so you never know, the original article was about construction workers.

Exactly !   the desperate.

Or those being exploited.

They did a full lockdown with curfew for a lot less cases.

It appears they are remaining open, whilst trying to vaccinate their way around this outbreak.

In order to do that, you have to vaccinate at a much faster speed than the virus is spreading.  I am not sure they are achieving that goal.
