Have to travel back home and will not make back before non o expires in two months. Will the whole process of needing to re apply for a new non o be necessary? or is there any type of grace period?

There is no 12 month visa for marriage.  Do you mean multi entry non immigrant O visa valid for one year of 90 day entries and you are at the end of that year?  At any rate if you need to immediately leave you will have to go through the process of getting a new non immigrant O visa or convert in country with financials at some point.  There are no grace periods outside Thailand.

I assume you actually have a one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) based upon marriage to a Thai.

If it expires while you are out of the country you will have to start all over again when you return by getting a new non-o visa at a embassy or after entering with a tourist visa or visa exempt entry at immigration.

If expires in only 2 months .....why not try to get your extension earlier or  postpone travelling if possible and do the extension as early immigration allows 30 day normal ...but they might grant you more early if your reason is accepted....try it ...nothing to loose by trying

Update  this overruled as i made confusian with my ret. Ext. Based on pension

Perhaps you could apply for a 60 day extension based on being married to a Thai right before you leave the country? I'm not sure how far in advance that's possible (or when you plan on leaving) or if the extra 60 days would allow you to return in time, but worth a shot.

Are you referring to one of these?

Or to one of these?

And a re-entry permit to keep the permit to stay it would allow valid when entering the country.
